Who  are we?Osseo Area Schools is the fth-largest school districtin the state, serving all or parts of Brooklyn Center,Brooklyn Park, Corcoran, Dayton, Hassan, MapleGrove, Osseo and Plymouth.

We serve more than 21,000 students, early childhoodthrough grade 12, as well as lifelong learners of allages through our community education program.Our size means more sta, more opportunities andmore attention to your child’s learning needs. We areproud of our families’ diverse backgrounds, with 55%White, 23% Black, 14% Asian, 7% Hispanic and 1%American Indian.

From the day your child starts kindergarten until theday he or she graduates from high school, Osseo AreaSchools will oer outstanding learning experiences inthe classroom, on the stage, in the community and onthe athletic eld.  Amazing things happenin our classrooms

Our students don’t just sit in classrooms—theyengage in learning. On any given day you may seecorporate mentors advising students of variousages, studentsraising moneyfor internationaldisaster relief eorts, or

students video-conferencingwith subjectmatter expertsor otherstudents from around the world. High schooljuniors and seniors participate in mock college orjob interviews to prepare them for their lives after

graduation, while eager elementary students areinvited to participate in accelerated math programs.

Leadership opportunities enable students to rise tothe challenge. Our Mock Trial team was recognizedfor demonstrating exemplary respect, fairness,honesty, integrity and courtesy. More than 60high school students are enrolled in the rigorous

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme,recognized by colleges and universities aroundthe world—and another 300 are taking IB exams.Students in our Opportunities in Emergency Careprogram are being prepared for certication in a

 variety of health care elds, while simultaneouslyreceiving both high school and college credit.

 ElementaryThe early years lay a foundation for lifelong learning.Elementary students study reading/language

arts, math, science, social studies, health, art,music, physical education, andinformationliteracy.Orchestrainstructionbegins in gradeve and bandinstruction ingrade six. Inaddition to vocalmusic instructionfor grades K-6, we oer an audition-based Children’sChorus. Gifted Education program services areprovided at each elementary school to support giftedlearners in kindergarten through sixth grade.

 Junior HighIn junior high, students experience more classoptions beyond the core subjectsof English, math, science andsocial studies—including art,family and consumer science,

technology education, music,physical education, healthand world languages. Becausestudents learn at dierentrates, they can be grouped tocreate a learning environmentthat is both challenging andsupportive. In addition, there

are High Performance classes available for studentswho may benet from accelerated and/or enrichedactivities.

 High SchoolA student’s nal years in Osseo Area Schools are achance to explore, grow and prepare for college orwork. In addition to the core subjects and a widerange of electives, students are able to participatein sports, theater, arts, clubs, music, communityservice and leadership opportunities. Students
