WARNER BROS.• This company has produced and distributed many successful films such as Inception, Harry Potter, I am Legend, The

Hobbit, Terminator, Batman V Superman. These are all films that include the genre adventure and thriller.• The fact that Warner Bros. is such a large company means that it has a global reputation. This means that it would

invest more money into a film as they have such a large audience that they need to appeal to. This also suggests that the film would have a professional finished product however as the company are so large this may cause tension between the director and the production/distribution company as they may have different creative directions.

• This company would be ideal for our film as they produce a wide range of films with a wide range of storylines. Therefore they would be open to our storyline and film more than other companies may be . The company also tends to stick to specific genres which gives the audience continuity. So when the audience denote this logo they will automatically know what genre the film would be. This also signifies the quality of the film, as the company has produced lots of blockbuster films the audience will more than likely go to see a Warner Bros. film rather than another company’s film as they would assume synergy between the company and this film. Therefore the active audience that we are targeting would be attracted via Warner Bros. as they know that this is a trusted company that produces high quality movies and if they are already loyal to the company then they will unequivocally go to see the film just because they are loyal to the production/distribution company. So having Warner Bros. produce and distribute our film would increase our wide audience and connote that it would be successful.

DREAMWORKS ANIMATION

• This company has produced and distributed many successful films such as How to Train your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, Madagascar, Shark Tale, Megamind. Their target audience is mainly children and families. This can be represented via their genres, adventure, animation, family, comedy.

• This is also a very large company with a global reputation so this company would reach a large audience. However we would not want out film to be animated as it would no attract the target audience we would want to appeal to.

• Dreamworks Animation would not be ideal for our film as this company is mainly child oriented. Therefore our film would not fit in with this company and our creative differences would cause tension as Dreamworks Animation have a different outlook of the film industry. Children are a passive who tend to believe everything they see on TV. Therefore they would have Stuart Hall’s reception theory of the preferred reading. So they would completely agree with the producers encodings. For our film we would want the audience to have Stuart Hall’s reception theory of negotiated reading do they would agree with our encodings but also decode their own connotations of the film.

NEW LINE CINEMA

• This company has produced and distributed many successful films such as Se7en, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Final Destination 3, Monster in-law, Rush Hour. This company has not stuck to specific genres as their films produce a wide range of films with a wide range of genres.

• This company is very well known across the globe so it would invest a lot of money into the film. Therefore the final product of the film would be very professional and would attract to a wide audience.

• New Line Cinema would be ideal to produce our film as it produces film across a wide spectrum of genres. Therefore the audience would be massive as New Line Cinema appeal to a wide demographic. However the fact that New Line Cinema doesn’t stick to specific genres suggest that the audience would not know what to expect. This connotes that there would be more of an enigma as the audience have to figure out which of the many genres that New Line Cinema produces is the one of our film. This would create mystery and suspense which would synergize with our film. Therefore this company would open the film to a mass demographic and potentially make our film extremely successful.

CONCLUSION

Overall New Line Cinema would be the best suited company for out film. This is because it does not confine itself to specific genres. Therefore their demographic is mass as they appeal to everyone due to that they produce a wide range of films with a wide range of genres. So New Line Cinema would open our film up to a mass target audience as they produce something for everyone. They are also a very large, well known company which means that they have the capacity and ability to produce our film on a large scale. They would also be able to invest a large amount of money into this film which would increase its professionalism.
