FOUNDATION FORUM Who are we? What is the Founda-tion Board of The Discovery Center? We are an organization created as an endowment fund, created to compli-ment the other fund raisings activi-ties that support The Discovery Cen-ter. We don’t raise money to pay next week’s bills; The Discovery Center Foundation, Inc raises money for an investment fund, with re-turns parceled out over the decades to assure the long-term growth and continued success of the won-derful place called The Discovery Center. Just as you might set aside money to invest for your retirement, or college, we set aside money for the future. In this way, we plan and fundraise so that our grandchil-dren, and THEIR grandchildren, can still discover for themselves the joy of learning.

The Foundation Board of The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier would like to thank its two retiring Board Members, Tom Scala and Jim Buhay. Their dedicated service is much appreciated! Tom has served as Secretary and Jim as President. In addi-tion, Jim Buhay has served the Foundation by being the moving force behind its inception. In turn, we would like to welcome the two newest members of the Foundation: Sandy Guy and Jim Fountaine. Lastly, special thanks to Carole Hillis for serving as Foundation Board President for 2 years. Foundation Board Members for 2013 include; Beth Akel, Secre-tary; Sarah Grace Campbell, Vice President; James Fountaine; Sandy Guy; Nancy Hargrave, President; Carole Hillis, Douglas R. Johnson; Judith Miller; Libby O’Connor; Kevin O’Hara, Treasurer; Karen Sweet-

O’Neill; and Jane Zuckerman.

The Foundation Board is committed to assuring the long term financial stability of The Discovery Center. You can join us in our efforts by offering support; you giving can take on many forms. Check out The Dis-covery Center’s website, thediscoverycenter.org, for the various options including an Endowment newly established in memory of Andrew F. Crocker, Pokey Crocker’s son. Contact us at [email protected] or call 607-773-8661 x 204 for more information.

A thank you goes out to those people and businesses that donated to the DCST Foundation this quarter: William & Janet Denman; Dr. Scott & Analise Farrell; Marie (Ann) Patterson, Janet Kriswalus; Margaret Vail; Carol Taren; Linda Biemer; Pranab & Shantha Datta; Super X Launderette, Inc.; Bynam Bryant; Karen Sweet-O’Neill; Margaret (Pokey) Crocker; Beth Akel; Ron Akel; Bill Lane; Dr. & Mrs. Francis Gilroy; George Yonemura; Donald & Janet Beal; James Buhay; Michael & Jane Zukerman; Richard & Barbara Thamasett; James & Nancy Hargrave; Carole Hillis; Ramona Auchinachie; Mr. & Mrs. Doug Johnson; Kenneth & Judith Miller; and the DCST Foundation Board in honor of its 2012 retiring mem-bers. A special note of deep gratitude goes to the Gaffney Foundation, for their major contribution to The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier Founda-tion, Inc.
