Name of the scheme : Holistic approach of Agricultural development through

Adopted villages in North Gujarat

Establishment year : 2017-18

Background information :

The agricultural technology is generally not accepted by the farmers completely in

all respects as such. There always appear a gap between the recommended technology

by the scientists and its use of farmers' level. This technological gap is major problem in

the efforts of increasing agricultural production.

The sustainable agricultural development can be achieved through popularization

of scientific farming practices, crop diversification through introduction of high value crops

and planned strategies for solving constraints in the path of profitable farming.

SDAU were adopt twelve villages for their overall agricultural development. The

present scheme has therefore has been proposed to develop the adopted villages in all

aspects of agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture etc. The villages to be selected

were developed in such a way that they would be technology hub from which the farmers

of other villages will learn scientific agriculture based on the principle of "seeing is

believing".

The project was target the development of small and marginal farmers, focuses on

technically appropriate, institutional feasible, environmentally sound, economically viable

and sustainable transfer of agriculture and allied technologies through empowerment of

farming community including farm women. Such technologies when demonstrated in the

adopted village were trigger horizontal adoption of technologies.

Goal and Objectives of the scheme:

1. Application of selected Agricultural technologies in the adopted villages.

2. To motivate the farmers to adopted the latest Agricultural Technologies.

3. To develop the adopted villages as satellite village in the field of Agriculture,

Animal husbandry, Horticulture, Organic farming technology.

4. To mobilize local resources to create infrastructure facilities in the adopted

villages for value addition of the farm produce.

Name of the scheme : Preparing Multimedia learning Modules

Establishment year : 2017

Objective :

To prepare multimedia learning modules for its use in transfer of technology

Preparing Multimedia Learning Modules Scheme is functioning under Directorate of

Extension Education, Sardarkrushinagar since 2016-17. Many farmers have adopted

advanced agricultural technologies under the guidance of university scientists. Under the

scheme, digital learning modules like video clips/ documentaries have been prepared for

the benefit of farmers. Mashroom farming training, Farmer’s Shibir on Rantid ni Vartanuk

ane Vyasthapan pogrammeswere recorded and video CDs have been prepared.

The various university level functions viz., 16th Convocation, 15th August programme,

and opening of university bhavan were recorded and video CDs have been prepared.

The photo albums have been prepared for major events viz., 16th Convocation, and

district level Celebration of Republic Day at SDAU Campus. The video CD /Pen Drive and

Whatsapp Clips also prepared for same events.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic period 56 online youtube live training programme

organized successfully which benefited more than 3000 farmers. Detail of photography and

Name of the scheme : Knowledge dissemination through distance learning

Establishment year : 2017

Introduction

To reach a vast farming community in a short span of period, the only means is

distance education, through print media and electronic media. It has now become possible

to reach large number of farmers at a time. In the proposed scheme, attempts are made to

register farmers as learners, preparing distance learning materials, reaching farmers

through SMS and whatsapp group and thereby imparting knowledge to them regarding

knowledge of agriculture and allied technologies. The knowledge need differ farmer to

farmers; hence it is very vast subject The learning material needs to be prepared covering

the knowledge gap identified.

Objectives:

i) To assess the knowledge gap of the farmers

ii) To prepare distance learning materials to impart knowledge to the farmers,

farmwomen, rural youth etc.

iii) To impart knowledge to the farmers, farm women, rural youth etc. through distance

learning materials

iv) To solve farm problems of farmers

In the global pandemic situation due to COVID-19 under the scheme seventeen

online training programmes on different crop production, horticultural production and

livestock management practices were organized through YouTube platform in which 3067

farmers had participated.
