Director of Portfolio Management – Fixed Term Contract (6 months+)
Overview:
A global FTSE constituent is seeking a Director of Portfolio Management (PMO Director) to ensure the
maximum value is derived from a range of critical project investments across their global footprint. Your key
remit will be to align the programme portfolio’s objectives with their corporate strategy outcomes,
track/monitor the overall delivery of all programmes and ensure benefits realisation (over 40 programmes in
the current portfolio).
This is an integral leadership role and is aimed at building project delivery capability, establishing strong
stakeholder relationships across multiple functions and act as the key enabler to ensure programmes success.
Other responsibilities include:
Drive and take ownership of global project portfolio prioritisation and demand management process;
Collaborate with Project Management community to establish robust project management standards and practices (key areas include business case creation, milestone management, benefits realisation etc);
Own and deliver Portfolio Delivery Plan within the agreed timescales;
Align PMO process and reporting with Corporate Risk Office;
Develop and operationalise global Portfolio Management and Governance processes in accordance with current maturity level of project management capability;
Plan and execute Portfolio performance reviews and utilise critical information to inform leadership strategy where necessary;
Skills & Attributes Needed: The organisation is seeking an experienced project practitioner, with a strong foundation in portfolio
management (PMO), who can navigate within a fast paced environment. Key priorities are:
Formal Portfolio Management qualification (MoP or similar);
Formal Project Management qualification (PRINCE 2, MSP or similar);
Track-record in the operational management of a Programme (PMO) Portfolio – with an emphasis of both people management within the PMO and delivery of projects/programmes within portfolio;
Excellent experience of applying governance across multiple programmes and strong familiarity with Demand Management, Investment Prioritisation etc;
Experience of delivering multiple project initiatives across multiple functional areas simultaneously This is a truly excellent opportunity to build critical project capability whilst delivering high-profile transformation initiatives for a multinational success story.
