IBO Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Assessing student work Students have ample opportunity to
demonstrate what they have learned
Most subjects have both internal (portfolios,
orals, essays) and external (exams) assessments
Internal assessment is moderated by external
moderators (mostly practicing teachers) whose
marking is monitored.
External assessment is marked by examiners

Assessing student work
All subjects, whether HL or SL, are
scored out of a maximum of 7 points.
Up to 3 bonus points are awarded
for Theory of Knowledge and Extended
Essay.
Maximum score is 45 points,
minimum acceptable score is 24 points.
