Dinosaur School Programme

Kirton Lane Primary School

Dinosaur School is a theme- based social skills and problem – solving course.

A programme used by teachers, school counsellors, nurses, etc.

Small group work for children aged 3 – 8 years.

To teach positive social skills.

To teach emotional literacy.

To promote appropriate school behaviours, and reading, writing and communication skills.

To promote self –esteem.

Using a child – centered teaching philosophy.

Integrating research – based principles of learning.

Regular involvement with parents.

Utilizing learning approaches.

Activities that encourage children’s choices and self-direction.

Respect for children’s and parent’s input and inclusion of adaptable materials.

Valuing the developmental stages and abilities of children.

Opportunities for cultural diversity.
