1. What is DIN ?

DIN is the abbreviation or short form of Directors Identification

Number.

It is a unique Identification number allotted by Ministry of

Corporate Affairs.

2. Why is DIN Required ?

Every Person who is director in an Indian Company OR if He/She is

proposed to be a director in Indian Company, must have a DIN

number. Without a DIN number you can not be appointed as

director in an Indian Company.

3. Shall the Person have a DIN Number for each Company, in which

he is a Director ?

No, The DIN Number is allotted to every Individual ,so every person

should have only one DIN irrespective of the Number of

Companies in which he is director.

4. What is implication of having Multiple DIN Number ?

Every Person Shall have only one DIN, if you have multiple DIN

immediately one DIN shall be surrendered. Having multiple DIN is a

Criminal Offence and can attract 6 Months imprisonment & Fine of INR

50,000/-

5. What Documents are Required for Getting DIN,if the Applicant is

Indian ?

>> Duly Filled DIN Application Form

>> PAN Card i.e Permanent Account Number – Copy

>> Proof of Address i.e Latest Utility Bill/Passport/Bank Statement

>> Photograph

>> Digital Signature

6. Does the Documents of Indian Applicant need to Certified by any Authority ?

The documents shall be Duly notarized by notary Public. Showing his presence ofapplicant in India and as proof of original to be Document.

7. What Documents are required if the Applicant is Foreign National ?

>> Duly filled online Form>> Passport Copy>> Proof of Address i.e Latest Utility Bill/bank Statement/Driving Licence/Country ID

>> Photograph>> Digital Signature (Details will be provided in other Presentation)

8. Does the Documents of foreign Applicant need to Certified by any Authority ?

Yes, the Document of foreign National Shall either be certified by Indian Embassy orbe notarized in their home Country. i.e if you are national of Spain , Documents shallbe notarized in Spain.

9. What is the Certification requirement for Proposed directors DIN , in case of analready registered Company.In case the person is to be appointed as director in an already registered companythe documents can be certified by MD/CEO or Company Secretary of registered

Company.

10. Any specific requirement, If the documents of Foreign National are

not in English ?

In many countries the documents are in their local language like

Spanish, Chinese etc., in such case the documents shall be first

translated by a government approved translator and then it should be

notarized or certified by Indian Embassy.

11. What are the Government Charges for DIN ? And any Other Cost

Involved ?

The Government fees for DIN is INR 500/-, The fees shall be paid

online.

Plus the cost involved in getting the documents certified. No Other

Cost.

12. What should be done, If there are changes in the details of DIN

Number e.g Name , Address or any other information?

In case of change in the information form DIR-6 Shall be filled by the

person with new documentary evidences supporting the Change of the

information and the changes will be done by Government.
