IntroductionTraditionally notice board is all about sticking information, but sticking

various notices day-to-day is a difficult process.

This digital noticeboard project is designed to develop a PC controlled scrolling message display for notice board.

This system can be implemented in many important places where latest information can be displayed.

For example if implemented in colleges all information for students can be displayed. It is very convenient for students and college management to display any information.

 For displaying day-to-day information continuously or at regular intervals during the working hours.

It offers flexibility to display flash news or announcements faster than the programmable system.

To allow only authorized user to access various function and processed available in the system.

Provide greater speed & reduced time consumption.

What’s New ?

This is PC controlled display for notice board.

It can be used anywhere like,School, Colleges, Hospitals, Railway stations, etc.

Deny access of unauthorised person

We can also save important messages.

And later we can open saved messages whenever required.

The operation of the system is very simple.

Sending Message from any personal computer containing the software of digital noticeboard.

For sending message through that software and display it on LED display we need to connect the PC to Rolling display through RS232.

It displays only required input given through our software.

We need to have some common peripherals such as 5 volt power supply, RS232, Serial Port to USB convertor, Rolling display etc.

Visual Basic .NET (VB.NET) is a multi-paradigm, object oriented computer programming language implemented on the .NET Framework.

Its also possible to run VB.NET programs on Mono, the open source alternative to .NET not only under Windows, but even Linux or Mac OSX.

VB.NET is a modern, general purpose, object oriented & component oriented language.

It is easy to learn and structured language which produces efficient programs.

The DB9 connector is an analog 9 pin plug of the D-Subminiature connector.

The DB9 Connector is mainly used for serial connections.

It allows asynchronous transmission of data as provided by standard RS232.

The MAX232 is an IC that converts signals from an RS-232 serial port to signals suitable for use in TTL compatible digital logic circuits.

MAX232 is one of the versatile IC to use most of the signal voltage level conversion problems.

Hardware Requirements

MAX232-

Gives out well regulated +5V output, output current capability of 100 mA.

Circuit protection: Built-in overheating protection shuts down output when regulator IC gets too hot

Circuit complexity: Very simple and easy to build Circuit performance: Very stable +5V output voltage, reliable

operation Components such as diode,capacitor,regulator & transformer

are used.

A Rolling display, or seven-segment indicator, is a form of electronic display device for displaying decimal numerals that is an alternative to the more complex dot matrix displays.

The seven segments are arranged as a rectangle of two vertical segments on each side with one horizontal segment on the top, middle, and bottom.

operating system. Hence the product is going to be built using Visual Basic for its User Interface.

easily available. The use of a PC increases its scope of applications and

modifications. It has low cost of manufacturing & no need of lengthy wires Power Consumption is Less We can use various tools to display the message in various ways We can also Save important Messages. It is flexible as we can display already existing saved messages
