CaloriesMost overestimated …

When burned through exercise

WALKING For 1 hour at a pace of

5-6 Km/h barely uses 300 calories

Page 5: Diet vs Exercise - Reality Check by Dietitian Pallavi Jassal

CaloriesMost underestimated…

When Consumed through diet

You can wipe that out with 1 Parantha and 1 Bowl

Vegetable

More Exercise = More hungry

People often tend to compensate for exercise by eating more. I’ve seen people at the gym scarf down “energy” drinks that contain the

calorie equivalent of two days worth of workouts

More Interestingly, the research is very clear that it’s next to impossible to keep weight off

unless you exercise regularly. But using exercise alone as a weight-loss strategy

is an exercise in futility.

So, does that mean you should give up exercising?

Page 8: Diet vs Exercise - Reality Check by Dietitian Pallavi Jassal

Absolutely not. But it does mean you should give up the pipe dream of losing belly fat just because

you started walking….

Belly Fat

Page 9: Diet vs Exercise - Reality Check by Dietitian Pallavi Jassal

Belly fat happens for two reasonsboth related to hormones.

The first is that you eat too many carbohydrates which causes your insulin levels to go sky high. Insulin is also known as “the

fat-storing hormone”

Carbohydrates Obesity

Insulin levels go sky high

And what makes it rise the most—and stay up there the longest—is sugar and processed

carbohydrates.

So If You Cut Down The Carbs

You’ve removed one of the main causes of belly fat accumulation.

Page 12: Diet vs Exercise - Reality Check by Dietitian Pallavi Jassal

The second reason You get BELLY FAT

because of STRESS.When you’re under stress, your body pumps out  another hormone called CORTISOL, which sends a message to the body to accumulate fat around the

middle.

“Apple” shapes are at far more risk for heart

disease and metabolic problems like diabetes.

What to Do, How to Do?Put simply: we lose weight when we eat less calories

than we expend.

Conversely, we gain weight when we eat more calories than we expend. So, to lose fat, we must

create a calorie deficit which can be achieved either through exercise or diet.

1kg of fat = 9,000 calorie deficitHence, the solution is to integrate right diet with

right exercise
