Contractors will have four weeks to submit their construction cost bids. Four weeks is the minimum bidding duration to meet the requirements set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). After bids are opened, the County will be able to expedite the construction contract to the most responsive and cost -eective bidder due to the emergency declaration that was approved by the Board of Supervisors on March 7, 2017. The construction start date will depend upon the contractor’s access to necessary equipment and supplies for this project because resources for this project are in high demand. completely closed during the construction phase, with residents using the temporary access road that is to be constructed first. The County is currently working to obtain the required environmental permits from various state and federal agencies for the repair project.

The Public Works Real Estate Division has successfully reached agreements with all property owners on Leon Drive, and has a verbal commitment from the multiple owners/trusts on the Pacini parcel, and we anticipate signed agreements for that property in the next week. The County has not been waiting for the agreements to be signed in order to begin work on the access route; design and environmental clearance for this temporary access is proceeding simultaneously. Upon completion of these items, we will start improvements for an alternative access in advance of the broader repair project.

My last conversation with the County real estate division mentioned they were having difficulties dealing with the state park gaining access. I have not been contacted, but it looks like they're going to use Leon Drive as the main temporary Access Road. Our membership year is coming to an end, so please make sure to check your work hours. There is a list in the clubhouse hour’s workbook. When you enter your work information in the book please make sure to print your name clearly. It is difficult to credit hours when you can’t read the name. If you think there is a discrepancy in our tracking of your hours please email me ASAP. I have copies of all the sheets.

Due to the two month road closure we will discuss our work hour assessment for this year at the June club meeting.

Outreach Program Happy Summer Diablo Archers!

Summer is here and it is time to get ready for a great outdoor season! Outreach has several lessons and events in the works at the club, so it seems that everyone is ready to get out there and shoot! This Memorial Weekend, we have two scheduled lessons, both on the practice range. We also have three scheduled events in June. I am excited to have so many interested in our range and enjoying the beauty that our members have created there.

With all of the lessons and events that are occurring at the range, I find myself in need of help with our archery equipment and with instruction. I am looking for a member or two who is skilled at arrow repair who would like to earn their hours fletching and repairing arrows. Although I do know how to fletch arrows, I find myself lacking in time to get to it. Please let me know if you are interested by emailing me at [email protected]. We also have received some inquiry regarding lessons for the Boy Scouts, but their badge acquisition requires

the class to be taught by a certified boy scout instructor. I was wondering if any of our members have this designation and would like to assist these boys in earning their badge. Please let me know of your interest through email.

I have received some interest in helping with lessons on the range. You can find events on the calendar listed on the Diablo Bowmen website. If you are interested and available for any of the lessons listed, feel free to email me with the event and the best way to contact you and I will get in touch. Thanks to everyone who helps us reach out and support our community!

Lastly, If there is in any interest in Scholastic 3D or a Diablo Youth Club, please let me know. I would love to put something together to help our member’s children continue to develop skills and a love for the sport of archery!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

Range Report Thank You to Dan Wright for running the May work party in my absence. New targets were put out for the club shoot, weed eating was done in several locations, targets were glued up, limbs were trimmed on the Dixon round and a large tree was cleared on targets 54 and 55 on the Cruse round.

We have some beautiful new floor mats with our logo on them in the club house thanks to member Chuck Treen and his employer Alsco, check them out when you are at the range! Thank You Chuck!

It is warming up and rattle snakes are active, be careful when you are out shooting, snakes like to lay right on trails to get warm so keep an eye out. Bug spray applied to your lower extremities will keep ticks at bay. Fire season will be here before you know it so lets be vigilant about fire safety. The only place to smoke is by the photo cabinet on the club house, there is a butt can there with sand in it.

Next work party is on June 3rd, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., lunch and club meeting to follow.

Thank You to everyone that has been working on the range.

Family Fun Day

We held a family fun day on May 20th and had about 40 members and guests come out.

Everyone had the chance to shoot a 14 target 3D course before lunch and while it was cooler. We also had fun shooting at a flying pig, rolling targets on the ground (rabbits), a milk jug shoot off and shooting at a rotating 3D target. Everyone seemed to have a great time, fun was the emphasis for the day!

Mario and Diana ran the cook shack and did a great job as usual. Mario had ALL the fixings for some great burgers and hot dogs. Side dishes were brought by everyone and thoroughly enjoyed. My people's choice award goes to Joe Brown's German potato salad, it was delicious! Thank you to everyone who brought food to share, it was all very tasty. The food was enjoyed on linen table cloths provided by Chuck Treen, thanks Chuck, it was really a nice touch. Thank you to everyone who set up the shoot and to the members that stayed and help pick everything up, clean up went really well because we had a lot of help. Hopefully we will do this again next year and can come up with some new ideas for fun.

The El Dorado Hills Bowmen celebrating Olympic Day with “Try Archery” event

One of more than 2,000 nationwide events celebrating the birth of the modern Olympic Games

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. – The spirit of the Olympic Movement will roll into El Dorado Hills, as the El Dorado Hills

Bowmen host a “Try Archery” event in celebration of Olympic Day 2017.

EDH Bowmen’s celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 24 at the Bowmen’s Archery Range in El

Dorado Hills. The club’s Vice President of Tournaments and Events and Head Archery Instructor, James Myers, will kick

off the event with a short tribute to the Olympic Spirit, and an overview of the regions premier, volunteer run, public

archery range. The event will continue with opportunities for participants to meet members of a local Junior Olympic

Archery team, local archery experts, and will provide participants with an opportunity to try their hand at archery, no

equipment or experience necessary! The event will include an opportunity to hear from the El Dorado Hills Community

Services District General Manager, Kevin Loewen, about additional opportunities to connect with the local El Dorado

Hills community.

“We are excited to take part in Olympic Day and inspire kids of all ages in the El Dorado Hills community,” said Kevin

Loewen, General Manager, El Dorado Hills Community Services District. “El Dorado Hills CSD is proud to partner with

the El Dorado Hills Bowmen club in support of the Olympic Movement and encourage everyone to lead healthy, active

lives.”

The El Dorado Hills Bowmen “Try Archery” event is one of nearly 2,000 events taking place nationwide during the month

of June. The events, designed to engage youth and promote the ideals of the Olympic movement, feature athlete

appearances, family-friendly activities and interactive learning experiences.

Around the world, more than 160 countries take part in the annual celebration. Olympic Day, created in 1948 to

commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games, focuses on the Olympic values and ideals such as fair play,

perseverance, respect and sportsmanship. In the U.S., Olympic Day events range from small gatherings to large, city-wide

events. For more information about the El Dorado Hills Bowmen Olympic Day activities, visit the club’s website at

TOURNAMENT RULES: As printed on all other previous flyers Common sense and common courtesy rules apply

which means exactly that. For clarification here they are as follows. 1) This is a participation tournament which means sponsors pay big bucks to have people

participate therefore you must be present to win. 2)All fish and game rules apply.

3) There is a mandatory check in between the Friday evening before the tournament and 7 am the day of the tournament.

4) You must be at the grandstand at 7 am saturday morning and may not leave the grandstand area unless your number has been called for release in the tournament.

5) You must bring in all fish once shot. 6) During the night shoot stay clear of houses we don't need the lights upsetting homeowners

and causing problems for the tournament. 7) You must be in the weigh in area by 530 pm Saturday evening for the raffle and dinner.

8) Matt Petrini has the right and discretion at any time to clarify further the only 1 real rule, common sense common courtesy, you can be disqualified if there are complaints against your

boat for not following these very simple rules.

The folks putting on this tournament are working on a 100% volunteer basis, there is no money made, no donations taken for doing this, there are also no manuals on how to run a tournament therefore we are doing our best and please take it easy on us if there is some sort of mistake or misunderstanding,

and if you think something should be done a different way a kind offer of advice would be nice and if its disagreeable, please put on a tournament to your own liking and send us the invite! We are here for fun and that's it, bad attitudes and complaints don't do any good other than to stop the tournament from

happening, thanks are the only payment for all the work.
