Returning this year is ABI’s Detroit Consumer Program, a day-long conference designed especially for Michigan-area consumer practitioners. This year’s program will again address the topics that consumer practitioners need: making your case go smoother with your trustee, case law update, best practices, the problems of high-income debtors, non-bankruptcy alternatives, what mortgage companies are doing now, and fraudulent transfers and preferences. The conference will close with a judges’ panel and reception. It is a must-attend for every Michigan-area consumer bankruptcy practitioner! .

Continuing Education CreditApproval for approximately 6.25 hours of continuing legal education credit is pending for all states requiring CLE. ABI will apply for CPE accreditation upon request. California MCLE—The conference has been approved for Minimum Continuing Legal Education credit by the State Bar of California in the amount of 6.25 hours. ABI certifies that this activity conforms to the standards for approved education activities prescribed by the rules and regulations of the State Bar of California governing MCLE.

ABI offers intermediate to advanced-level courses, which have no prerequisites for attendance. ABI is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE sponsors. State boards of accountancy have the final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be addressed to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, 150 Fourth Ave. North, Suite 700, Nashville, TN, 37219-2417, or www.nasba.org. For more information regarding administrative policies such as complaint and refund, please contact the American Bankruptcy Institute at (703) 739-0800. The Anthony H. N. Schnelling Endowment Fund was created in 1989 to provide resources for research and education.

Projects eligible for funding include studies relating to bankruptcy or insolvency; surveys or other analytical investigation; the education of judges, court personnel, other governmental personnel and the general public; scholarships or other educational grants; and any other projects with a material research or educational benefit to the bankruptcy and insolvency community. More than $800,000 has been distributed.
