Now, let us proceed to our lesson, the diphthong eɪ.eɪ as in bait. This is a diphthong, that is, the two vowel sounds are pronounced in one syllable. In the English diphthongs the first vowel is the more important of the two. The tongue moves from an arch midway to the hard palate for the (e) to a higher arc for the (I). The lips are spread in a smiling position. (Includes demonstrating the sound eɪto the class.)Did you understand class?So how will you pronounce this diphthong?Very good!
