Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Evaluation & RFP Response Tool

A key component of any evaluation is an RFP. Enterprises considering a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution need score potential solutions; however, gathering and scoring the various responses to an RFP can be difficult and time consum enables enterprises to evaluate and compare the results of an RFP process quickly and easily. Use this tool to: - Determine each requirement's level of importance to your organization. - If not using an RFP process, short list vendors with this tool. - Score and compare potential VDI solution RFP responses. Follow the instructions outlined in each tab to complete the evaluation.

Level of DesirabilityMandatory criteria are requirements that would knock out any vendors that are unable to meet them. Desirable criteria are requirements that the organization would like as part of the solution. Not applicable criteria are requirements that the organization does not need.

Functional RequirementsInstructions: 1. Indicate the desirability of each of the listed functional requirements. The features below are examples only, and the text can be edited as required. 2. Add any additional requirements in the "Other" cells. 3. Indicate if the vendor can meet each of the documented requirements below by using the Yes/No drop downs. ***DO NOT ADD OR DELETE ROWS AS THIS WILL IMPACT THE SCORING ALGORITHM*** FeatureWindows 7 virtual desktops for up to 1500 users

The proposed solution must be able to serve virtual Windows 7 desktops with predetermined application software stacks up to 1500 seats. Access devices can include, but are not limited to, thin clients, legacy PCs, new PCs and home PCs. End-user should have as "near native" experience of their Windows desktop environment as possible. End User Experience Demonstrate how the solution will provide a enriched end user experince (for example, technologies for remote access acceleration.) Describe how solution manages virtual desktop configuration both in terms of single configuration Management of shared by groups of users and individual users and groups personalization. For example, desktop pooling, gold image templates, personalization of desktops, user profile management. Brokering Describe how the connection between the end user device and the virtual desktop host machines is brokered. How will it integrate with existing directory services, such as active directory. Describe how the proposed solution integrates with desktop and virtual machine management stacks. Estimate of how many administrators will be required to manage the solution (per 100 desktops).

Integration with Application Virtualization

Santee Cooper requires the capability to host multiple versions of software within a single desktop (for example, multiple versions of Internet Explorer). Describe how app virtualization can be integrated with solution for app isolation within a VM desktop. What features are available for potential off-line virtual desktop users, such as a mobile user who is not connected to the network.

5 Year Cost EstimationInstructions: Please fill in the estimated cost for each of the vendors. Helpful tip: Keep the requirements scoring and the pricing separate. You may want to strip out the pricing to the selection team and let them evaluate vendors on requirements first, then, after those scores are done, put in the pricing and select the most appropriate vendor.
