Their performance will feature a large amount of repertoire from the standard saxophone quartet library interspersed with contemporary works and well known classics. In Flux Friday, February 26 at 7:30 PM Studzinski Recital Hall Rachel Calloway (mezzo soprano), Noah Geller (violin), Eric Nowlin (viola), and Jason Calloway (cello) will perform in an ensemble devoted to creating a new repertoire of con-temporary vocal chamber music, featuring im-portant recent works as well as compositions written expressly for the ensemble.

Guitar Series: Dan Lippel, guitar Wednesday, March 3 at 7:30 PM Studzinski Recital Hall New York city based guitarist Daniel Lippel will present a concert that tracks the history of the guitar repertoire from early transcriptions of music for other plucked string instru-ments to brand new music for the instrumentation by living composers, includ-ing a premiere of a new work by Bowdoin's own music professor Vineet Shende. Guitar Series: Music’s Quill Friday, April 2 at 4:00 PM Studzinski Recital Hall Music’s Quill was formed in 2000, when Timothy Neill Johnson (tenor) and Timothy Burris (lutenist) met, and discovered their shared love of the English lute song, the French air de cour, and Italian mon-ody—all rich repertoires combining the beauty of the human voice, accompanied by the delicacy of the lute. (www.baroquelute.com/html/music_s_quill.html) Musekiwa Wednesday, April 7 at 7:30 PM Studzinski Recital Hall Once again, Musekiwa Chingodza will perform mbira music from Zimbabwe at Bowdoin College. Musekiwa is an accom-plished mbira (thumb piano) player, singer, and dancer who has performed this unique genre of Shona religious music in ceremonies and concert halls around the world. He will be joined on stage by Bud Cohen and Tony Perman.

Guitar Series: Sean McGowan, jazz guitar Saturday, April 17 at 7:30 PM Studzinski Recital Hall Sean McGowan is a guitarist from Maine who com-bines many diverse influences with unconventional techniques to create a broad palette of textures within his compositions and arrangements for solo guitar. At Bowdoin he will perform contemporary arrangements of classical jazz standard repertoire as well as some original material. He graduated with a DMA in Guitar Performance from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and currently serves as an As-sistant Professor of Music Performance at the University of Colorado Denver.
