Demo days at Tractive 15.-17. Juni

Tractive’s entrance and ”info centre” during the demo days. The Red Carpet is all rolled out for our honoured guests!

Demonstrations of all the Pentruder HF-wallsaws, the 3P8 wire saw and the new revolutionary Modular Concrete Cutting System (MCCS) took place all

three days, all day long.

The concrete slabs are made from Borlänge concrete, known to be veryhard to cut with its porphyr and quartz aggregate. The rebars were Ø 32

mm, 150 mm apart.

We were pleased to welcome contractors from all over Europe, the US, India, Singapore and Japan. 14 nationalities were present.

Johan Hartvik, the brain behind the electronics and programming of the HF-equipment, is demonstrating the new HF-core drill with the Pentruder track

serving as column, a part of the MCCS-system.

The new Pentruder core drill motor is not just a core drill motor. It is a Modular Drive Unit, (MDU) and it can be used to power various drill gearboxes, STU’s, a medium capacity wire saw, a chain saw and even the 6-12HF 2-

speed and the CBK wall saws. The MDU units will be available with several different motors. First out is a 15 kW HF-version powered by any of the Pentpak 418, 422 or 422 Power Packs. Early 2010 the fully integrated MDU 10,

will be available, where no separate power pack is needed.

To the left Johan Hartvik is drilling a hole with the MDU 15, a STU gearbox, and a small drill bit. The problem here was the soft drill bit segments, as the drill bit wasbetter suited for a weak 3kW machine.

During the Hydro-Tec demo days the week after the Tractive event, this machine consistently drilled Ø 200 –300 holes in 31 cm thick concrete, two layers of 20 mm rebar, in between 1 minute 15 seconds and 3 minutes.

A HF-drill motor or 3-phase machine, from a competingmanufacturer, would take 20 – 30 minutes in the same concrete, same amount of steel.

You can be assured the MDU with various STU units willchange the way we see core drilling, in pretty much the same way as the Pentruder wall saws have changed wallsawing.

Finn Morten and Kenneth from Betovent in Norway together with Harry Eklund are testing a pre-series machine of the Pentruder Core EZ, a part of the MCCS-system, in itself representing a completely new way of drilling holes,

developed in co-operation with Warren Duncan, USA.

With the Pentruder Core EZ system, very high rotationalspeeds can be used. A good example would be when wedrilled a Ø 500 hole, (20”), 48 cm deep, through six Ø 32 mm rebars, in 7 minutes.

The core drill was turned at approximately 800 rpm. A much higher spindle speed than what is perceived as normal was used. The 22 kW Wall Saw motor was usedfor that hole, using only about 35% of its maximum power, and the hole was finished in 7 minutes only.

With a better match between machine and core drill, it should be possible to drill a similar hole in under fiveminutes, or even towards three to four minutes.

The core drills used during the demo days were standard core drills, not at all adapted to the much higher output of the Core EZ drill motor setup.

ME Racing Service AB is a highly valued supplier of high quality sheet metalsteel and aluminium parts as well as fabrications.

ME Racing Service AB and their Green Goblin Drag Racing Team gave a demonstration of the sound from the engine. Quite impressive!

Lunch buffet with typical Swedish midsummer food; pickled herring, meatballs and smoked sausage, Swedish crisp bread and much more. And a

glass of wine.

Mats Jonsson, fourteen times Swedish Rally Champion in Anders Johnsen’sFord Escort WRC. Together with his three collegues he gave our guests a

rally experience they won’t forget for a long time!

Leif Peterson, Swedish Rally Champion in his Toyota Corolla with Tractive SD90 sequential shift gearbox.

Per Arne Ljung in World Class Speed in his 4WD Mitsubishi EVO.

Tobias Söderqvist, a future Swedish Champion, is negotiating a sharp corner in his Toyota Corolla making the most of the superb diff traction control in

his Tractive SD90 sequential gearbox.

The majority of all components in the Pentruder equipment are manufactured in house, in state-of-the-art CNC equipment. During the work

shop tour our guest could convince themselves of our commitment to producing top quality products, using only the best CNC-machinery

available on the market.

One of our Multi Function Mori Seiki Turning Centres with twin spindles. Investments in new and efficient machinery is a must to stay competitive.

Seven new CNC machines have and will be installed only during 2009.

All structural parts for the Pentruder wall saws are

machined from solid billets of aircraft quality aluminium in one

of the Niigata Machining centres.

By using solid aluminium billets to machine all parts from, for example the chassis can be

light, but still very strong and safe to use.

The work shop tour has reached the assembly department.

Balancing of the rotor for the HF-motor. Balancing is done to 0.1g / cm. That is aerospace quality or better!

performance.

At 1:30 in the night the light midsummer night is more attractive that the the warm and cosy tent!

The Tractive-Team would like to thank everybody who came to visit us. We hope you found it worth you while, and welcome you back again!
