Welcome to the Christmas edition of this newsletter

I would like to welcome all members of the network. A new dawn is rising for integrated doctors and healers working together in a collaborative fashion. Firstly

I would like to welcome the following new members: Elizabeth Taylor and Helena Lancaster.

I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas and New Year.It has been a challenging year in that in June I had an accident and broke my shoulder which slowed me down some what. It was a great leveler needing to accept help from others to get me to appointments and shopping as well as needing help to cut food up e.t.c friends are indeed a valuable commodity.

Promoting ADHN Promoting ADHN -In November we had a advert in Holistic Bliss. In my role as Guest Speaker bookings for my Lions Club I organised one of our members Jean Sheenan to do a talk on her modality as a way to bring our form of healing into the mainstream. Additionally as Editor of the Q4 District Lions Magazine I placed a summary of her talk to get it to a much wider audience.

Networking I have attended the Australian Integrated Medical Association conference in Melbourne in July.Summary to follow.

AHHCA SeminarOn behalf of the Australian Holistic Healers and Counsellors Association I organised a Integrative Seminar which featured two Integrative Medical Practitioners along with other Holistic Healers along with Zac from Interclincal Laboratories talking about Hair tissue samples the weekend was very successful. Summary of weekend

Liaison MeetingsIt is my belief that our industry would be much stronger and be able to promote more vigorously if all the Healing Associations were to form an alliance and I will be suggesting this to the various groups in 2016.

ArticlesI welcome any articles for the newsletter.

Australian Integrative Medicine Conference held in July at Melbourne Report by Tim Fraser President Australian Holistic Healers and Counsellors and Founder Australian Doctor Healer Network. The National Federation of Healers shared a trade table with the Australian Holistic Healers and Counsellors and the Australian Foundation of Healing Touch. Dr Penny Caldicott President of this AIMA announced that

AIMA welcomes new Chair of Integrative Medicine at the Univeristy of Sydney

Integrative medicine will gain momentum with future contributions from the new Maurice Blackmore Chair in Integrative Medicine at the University of Sydney, says Dr Penny Caldicott, President of the Australasian Integrative Medicine Association (AIMA)

"Demand for, and interest in, integrative medicine is gaining momentum among professionals and healthcare consumers alike. It is exactly the time for further research in this field and for it to be supported by increased resources,” says Dr Caldicott. “We are confident that integrative medicine can make a substantial contribution to public health in Australia and New Zealand, and to future healthcare budget outcomes."

The main theme that came through many talks is that collaboration with all sectors working with each other. It appears clear an umbrella group may need to be created for the industry so we are all working in the one direction. What was great to see was a presentations on Heart of Integrative Medicine Raymond Schwartz, Heart based Neurology- When Hearts Minds, Guts align the future of Healthcare, Dr Coralie Wales- Embracing Wisdom, Dr Fiona Enkelmann ,The Healing Forum, Dr Robin Youngson, Hearts in Healthcare. At the end of the conference I attended a workshop on Integrative Medicine took kits. The outcome of this discussion was the present model used by GPs was not working as many of the modalities used lack scientific research to support its use. It was decided that a data gathering mechanism needed to be created by the association to store outcomes of treatments used as a way to build up evidence and to incorporate what the patient says about what they are feeling A general practitioner Susan Hunter has been appointed to coordinate patient outcomes as a way to build up evidence base. A very valuable connection has been made Tricia Greenway – is a consumer advocate and sits on insurance health boards in Canberra and is pushing to have a nationally recognised system of patient reporting of their outcomes with integrative medicine and has worked with the Hawke Government as an advisor. She is organising a template so each association can use. She said it is important for associations to work together. It is quite clear that all clients that you see need to be documented with patient comments positive or negative.

Dr Fiona Enkelmann dropped past the stand and announced the following The Healing Forum

The Healing Forum is an “unconference”, meaning no speakers or topics are scheduled in ahead of time. Instead, the program writes itself throughout the day thanks to the attendees. To be a speaker, simply buy a ticket to attend and volunteer to speak or facilitate a workshop on the day. And if you prefer, you can just come along and soak it all in. It is an event that offers something to everyone. It is being kicked off in Melbourne.

On a final note one of the major reasons for attending this conference is networking with many organisations and integrative practitioners to let them which healing associations are available for integrative practitioners to use for a positive outcome for their patients via the practitioner directory. And it is a great resource to get guest speakers for future conferences and why do we need to attend each year because it is held in different locations with new faces each time. And we are looking to gain professional creditability. Additionally it is professional development if we are truly holistic in approach to healing we should be aware of what is happening elsewhere in the industry

because of its clinically recognized impact: the idea that oxygen can be used in regenerative medicine, primarily to restore life in cells and rebuild tissues through Stem Cells activation. This direction of ozone therapy is well supported by a number of scientific studies and is finally being well recognized by the majority of medical international communities worldwide. The use of ozone for the treatment of major chronic illnesses is the area where the academics, doctors and ozone therapy practitioners tend to argue the most. Many associations are quick to play down the use of ozone as a treatment because it is so unconventional and it should not be used as a complete substitute for traditional medicine; however, there is potential for relief and there are some interesting theories being expressed as well as scientific white papers highlighting advantages that some medical specialists may be deliberately overlooking. Some researchers are looking into its potential for Alzheimer's, heart disease, Lyme's and cancers, suggesting that cancer does not spread so well in environments rich in oxygen so ozone injections could theoretically help. Moving away from the more life threatening illnesses, there are also links being made between ozone treatment and anti-aging, general detoxification and improving the immune system. Significance of Prolozone and Ozone Injection Therapy: When it comes to the use of Prolozone and Ozone Injection Therapy, the conditions being highlighted usually are not life threatening but they do have a more medically acceptable approach to using ozone in medicine that shows the greater potential for the science and the chances of it really catching on from an alternative therapy option towards a recognized medical modality. Ozone injections and Prolozone tend to focus on illnesses of the muscular skeletal system including: slipped disc, spinal stenosis, sports injuries, arthritis, bulged discs, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder and tendonitis being some of the common problems being treated, and would therefore be a great addition to clinics dealing in sport medicine, physiotherapy and rehabilitation. This is the area that prospective patients are encouraged to look into in more detail as it is these viable adaptations of ozone therapy that could soon be available more readily.

The history of Ozone therapy: Ozone therapy is not some strange new alternative fad but rather the development of a old medicinal friend. There are some critics of the use of ozone in medicine who see it very much as an "alternative" approach because of its style and some of the skepticism that still surrounds its use on

the human body; however, there is a long history to the use of ozone that provides an important basis for the treatments that have recently been developed. In 1856, not long after ozone was first discovered, scientists learnt that it actually had some benefit within medicine. At first this was pretty straightforward and minimal as a means of sterilization of surgical equipment - a simple but originally overlooked practice - but it was later used to disinfect water, treat tuberculosis and even disinfect wounds in the First World War. Modern medicine often means we favor new discoveries over old practices but ozone therapy has shown that this old fashioned form of sterilization still has a place in the treatment of illnesses and recent research into the use of the chemical has shown great potential for the regeneration of stem cells.

mean that they are used for different results and there have been some interesting developments that have ensured that Prolozone therapy really does look set to take off in a big way.

Where you can find Ozone Therapy in Australia? Unfortunately there are only few doctors who practice ozone therapy in Australia.

There are few doctors who just starting to introduce ozone therapy as a part of their medical practices. However if you would like to find a doctor with many years of experience in ozone therapy in Australia, you will find Dr. Ngu and Dr. Dulitsky Dr. Margaret Ngu offers some Ozone therapy procedures as a part of her esoteric and transformational medicine practice in Melbourne. Dr. Edward Dulitsky is a Regenerative clinician from Sydney, who specializes in Ozone Therapy and currently is one of the leading names in Australia in the field of Ozone Therapy and Prolozone. His method brought a significant enhancement to the efficiency of Ozone injection therapy and Prolozone. His golden rule is that the body must be aligned properly for regeneration to go well. Again, this option provides an advantageous, non-invasive approach that differs greatly from painful chiropody and has no real risk attached. Some reports state that this unique combination of Advanced Structural Alignment and the Ozone injections has yielded some impressive results with bulging disc and sciatica or when trying to regenerate damaged cartilage in hips and knees, to an extent not seen with standard Prolozone treatment alone. Dr Dulitsky's method is said to have improved the success rate of such procedures by as much as 90%. This is why Ozone treatments are now being considered for greater joint injuries and conditions like arthritis. Furthermore, some doctors are looking at the benefits of Ozonated Platelets Rich Plasma for tissue regeneration that was also introduced in Australia by Dr Dulitsky: if it can work so well on cartilage, how far can we take the use of ozone? Fix My Spine is currently the only Australian clinic located in Sydney that specializes in ozone therapy for chronic pain and muscular skeletal conditions and offers Prolozone and Ozone injections. These treatments are used in A SAFE GUIDE TO OZONE THERAPY 5

conjunction with advanced structural alignment, an innovation that was brought in by Dr Dulitsky. In the beginning of next year, a new clinic will be opening in Sydney which will specialize in Ozone therapy and will offer latest innovations in Ozone therapy and the whole range of Ozone therapy procedures, including Ozone Injections and Prolozone, localized and systemic ozone treatments, Autohemotherapy, Para-lymphatic Ozone Injections, Cosmetic Ozone therapy. Why are these different Ozone and Prolozone treatments proving to be so beneficial? Moving away from those supporters that over-promote the potential of oxygen on every possible illness and injury, there are some much more realistic and equally interesting effects that are said to occur when ozone is introduced to areas affected by illness and injury. Modern science discovered that to heal damaged areas, we need active Stem Cells around and plenty of vital nutrients and oxygen to support the healing process. Direct introduction of active oxygen (oxygen + ozone) activate Stem Cells and help to restore the body in many different ways. Firstly, it can act as an anti-inflammatory, providing quick and easy pain relief at the source; secondly, it can stimulate the anti-oxidant system, which is doubly beneficial given previous concerns that skeptics had over introducing free radicals via ozone; thirdly, it promotes the regulation of cell metabolism. It is not just the notable effects from the oxygen that give medics hope about the potential of ozone injections and Prolozone therapy, there are some great results being seen in patients and a number of breakthroughs that makes ozone therapy a new hope for a number of chronic conditions.

How safe is Ozone Therapy? There are a number of concerns about the safety of using ozone but it is not as dangerous as some critics would have you believe. The biggest concern that is often raised relates to the fact that ozone is widely seen as being a toxic gas and doctors therefore stubbornly believe it is detrimental to health rather than beneficial. Some agencies have been cautious in their response to ozone treatment, speaking out against the use of the gas in medical applications - one such organization being the FDA in America - but the problem with this is that it offers a very black and white view on the gas, as though ozone can only be completely safe or dangerous. It is important to reiterate that the ozone is diluted with other

elements and injected in small quantities to be safe as ozone doctors have successfully done for many decades. There are some prospective patients that will be put off from trying the treatment because of the needles. Unfortunately this is a big part of ozone injections and Prolozone therapy because they are present no matter how the active oxygen is being introduced but practitioners are aware of needle phobias and do use anesthetics to numb the area and make the process more comfortable. In wrong doses, unsafe techniques and uncontrolled environments ozone could well be damaging but what about small doses in the hands of skilled practitioners? This is the key difference in dangerous exposure to ozone and helpful treatments and why strict regulations are being pushed forward to ensure that if Prolozone and ozone injection are to be used more readily, they are provided by skilled, specially trained, responsible practitioners. Ozone can be dangerous and even kill people when performed by untrained practitioners or delivered through equipment not suitable for medical ozone procedures. Some people will be alarmed by the fact that there have been already some fatalities caused by unsafe practice. In all cases deaths have only occurred when unregulated practitioners have tried out dangerous ozone injections that do not comply with current international guidelines for Ozone Therapy (Madrid Declaration); that is the problem when new research and approaches are not carefully monitored. When Ozone is in the right hands it has been proven to be safe: In a 1980 study at the German Medical Society for Ozone Therapy, out of 384,775 patients and with combined 5,579,238 ozone treatments, only 40 cases of side effects were reported. This is why official regulations like the Madrid Declaration are so important. New International Standards for Safe Ozone Therapy The Madrid declaration is an important part of an ongoing scheme by ISC03 (the International Scientific Committee on Ozone Therapy) to provide regulation and promotion of Ozone therapy to ensure that it remains a safe practice and can be taken on by more skilled professionals across the world to aid patients in the best way possible. The main objective of the ISCO3 is "to determine the scientific and medical merits of each particular use of ozone, as well as a code of good practice, in order to overcome more efficiently the possibility of malpractice". This shows A SAFE GUIDE TO OZONE THERAPY 8

just how important it is to re-educate people on the practices and benefits of ozone instead of dismissing it entirely. It is hoped that as more countries sign up to the official declaration, a more global sense of understanding and regulation can be achieved and Australian patients will be among many receiving this new approach to pain management and regeneration.

The Future of Ozone injections and Prolozone in Australia Ozone injections and Prolozone therapy could soon become the safe, ideal treatment option for your chronic

ailments or sports injuries. The use of Ozone injections for various chronic health conditions is already a fact accepted by medical community in some countries. However in Australia it is still considered as an alternative medicine however the use of the injections should not be dismissed entirely, especially not when there is such potential in the use of ozone for a number of degenerative muscular skeletal conditions. The impact that is seems to have as an anti-inflammatory and stimulant for the regeneration of tissue and joints means this form of therapy has the basis to become a popular, simple treatment option for sports injuries and an alternative to chiropody that could very well have deeper impact on health. With the Madrid declaration gaining support and more doctors seeing the potential of safe and regulated ozone injections, it could become very soon a viable, widespread option for patients with debilitating injuries, chronic pain and perhaps some degenerative diseases. When we place the overly-positive support for cancer treatments and the overly-negative criticisms about ozone use to one side, we are left with a realistic middle ground and some interesting treatments. The combination of the great results, the simplicity of the risk free treatments and the versatility - both in terms of the style of injections and the potential illnesses to be treated - have great potential and show that Prolozone and Ozone Injection Therapy really could be a new chapter in the treatment of pain, injury and illness in Australia. The chapter is just beginning, as more work needs to be done to get more doctors on board and ozone therapy does need greater promotion and education, but this is why it is so important to research the potential of this brilliant approach further; it may be new but it is also inexpensive, non-invasive and effective and it could be just what thousands of patients in chronic pain have been searching for.
