As the year comes to a close I can’t help reviewing the year in my mind.

The most important thing I saw was the CCFC member’s deep compassion for the needs of children and their willingness to do something to help.

I saw that compassion with the Sunshine Sacks, the Children’s Day in the Plaza, the Kite Festival in Morro Bay and collecting PJ’s with K-JUG.CCFC was able to award grants to many worthy groups as a result of the fund raising efforts with the Annual Golf Tournament, the “Garden of Giving,” and “Season to Believe” events. CCFC appreciates the contributions of the Trustees and Supporters. Without their belief in our work these endeavors wouldn’t be possible.

Thank you all for your support and hard work and I wish the 2016 officers and members another successful year.

We need to keep giving so that children always have a “Season to Believe”.

Wow! We scored big on new active members in 2015. We welcomed six motivated ladies to CCFC. What great energy these ladies brought to our group last year. Here’s what they have stepped up to do in 2016: Audrey Alfano will be working with Camp Reach for the Stars, the Morro Bay Kite Festival and Season to Believe. Corinne Cilli is joining our Board of Directors as Treasurer. Kim Conti is helping to organizing Special Events for our members. Carolyn Klingler will be Co-Chair of our Winter Event and help with the MB Kite Festival. Joanne Rogoff is our new Vice President. Kristy Wilson will be working on Publicity and Corporate Sponsors. Way to go ladies!

Karna Stitt has been out on a leave of absence. We really miss her enthusiasm and look forward to her rejoining us later this year. We are happy to have Pat Kowal return from her leave of absence.

Judy Barnett transitioned to Trustee this past year but I don’t think she has missed a general meeting since she left active status. Other Trustees who regu-larly attend our meetings are Carol Berry, Bonnie Brinton, Anne Brown, Deronda Burdette, Mary Ciernia, Ann Hansen, Leila Humphrey & Ann Whitehead. Vanessa Fujimoto continues to sew beautiful aprons for us as a fundraiser. What a lucky group we are to have these ladies continue to be involved.

Ricki Pace, Paula Gingrich and Chris Wheeler had perfect attendance at our monthly meetings. Nice showing ladies! The memories of working with ladies of CCFC will always remain in my heart. I am very excited about the prospects of CCFC in 2016.

Season to Believe

Thank you to the CCFC Members for thebeautiful center piece/raffle items!

Thank you to our generous businesspartners for the wonderful auction

Co-Chairs Carolyn Klingler, Bonnie Kennedy and Joanne Rogoff

“Twas the Season to Believe for CCFC, and the spirit in the room was abounding with glee!”

There was so much to celebrate on December 4th, when CCFC held their annual Season to Believe fundraiser at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. Supporters and guests were welcomed with a champagne reception as they “oohed and aahed” over the stunning and unique holiday centerpieces that were raffle items. These centerpieces were created by CCFC members! Then on to the fifty plus silent auction items. Holiday pillows and a sailing trip in Santa Barbara were the popular bids! Local businesses, CCFC members and supporters generously donated a variety of auction items. Renowned motivational speaker, Jean Steele, enchanted the guests with her lively and humorous talk on how to make each day the best day ever. On behalf of my co-chair ladies, Bonnie Kennedy and Carolyn Klingler, we wish to extend a HUGE thank you to the members of CCFC for their dedication, time, and energy in helping with the myriad of tasks required to make Season to Believe so successful. And a heartfelt thank you to the guests and supporters who attended the event. It is with the enduring support of all of you that we can continue to assist the children of San Luis Obispo County. So, “Merry Christmas to all, and to all … BELIEVE!”

The Central Coast Funds for Children celebrated its Fall Event “The Garden of Giving” in the beautiful gardens of the Rose Victorian Inn. Our event took place on September 27th and we were treated to a complete Bar-B-Q dinner with the help of The Kiwanis de Tolosa who cooked up the steaks, chicken and sausage to perfection. Everyone who attended enjoyed music, local wines and craft beers, cookies donated by our members and beautiful raffle baskets. The group’s efforts raised more than $17,000.

All of this would not have been possible without help from our Community: Apio, Inc., Ancient Peaks Winery, Black

Horse Expresso and Bakery, Bottlemeister, Cerro Calienete Cellars, Chamisal Winery, Claybourne and Churchill Winery, Costco, Excel Cleaning, Express Employment Professionals, Halter Ranch Vineyards, Home Depot, J. Dusi Wines, J Lohr Winery, Alfie & Diane Martinelli, Mission Linen, Mike Miller, Stephen Ross Wine Cellars, San Luis Sourdough, Saucelito Canyon Winery, Mark Eads Sea Venture Resort, SLO Veg, Tapit Brewery, The Victorian Pitkin-Conrow House, Tolosa Winery, Trader Joe’s SLO and Walmart. A BIG Thank You to all businesses and caring friends who donated and raised money for grants to help agencies in this county who serve children in need.

Trustee Luncheon

Sunshine Sacks

Oh, if pictures could talk. Recently at the Trustee Reunion/Luncheon, which was held at Upper Crust Restaurant in San Luis Obispo, twelve of our Trustees were present along with fourteen of our general membership. The setting was very casual in the back banquet room. As the trustees arrived they said their hellos and then noticed the old pictures scattered on the tables and on a board in the front of the room. The Trustees were looking at the pictures and reminiscing about the days when they did singing valentines, had workshops for Soup Supper center pieces in a member’s garage, and their many days in The Gift Box at French

Hospital. For the newer members it was an aahaa moment and listening experience.

If not for the Trustees, our leaders, CCFC would not be what it is today. We are so fortunate to have had these women, with the foresight to see where the hard earned funds were going, to organize Central Coast Funds for Children. We thank them for their perseverance and leadership for the past 21 years.

Leslie Rodman, Trustee Liaison

Our members continue to enjoy meeting to make the Sunshine Sacks for the emergency foster care children who are placed into the system. We spend several hours once a month sewing decorative bags and stuffing them with items the children can used, i.e., blanket, coloring book, stuffed animal, journal, crayons, pencils, toothbrush and a hair brush. We obtain these items and fabric through generous donations in our community. In 2015 we delivered over 250 sacks! We are very proud of our accomplishment. The Family Care Network and The South County Youth Coalition were the main recipient of these sacks.

We thank the Church of the Nazarene located on Johnson Avenue for making available a place to meet and make our sacks. Also to Kiwanis of San Luis Obispo de Tolosa for their generous donation of funds to help us purchase needed items for our sacks.

Shoes Galore

Once again the members of CCFC and our active Trustees brought a little “Christmas Cheer” to children this year. The 2 year olds, 3 year olds and 4 year olds who attend Children’s Resource Development Center Christmas party will receive shoes, socks and a toy compliments of our members.

CCFC once again partnered with KJUG and Golden 1 Credit Union on Saturday, December 12th to collect pajamas for kids in SLO County. We had a collection booth located in the parking lot outside of Golden 1 Credit Union in Paso Robles and KJUG announced from this location. We received many pajamas and thank all who supported this worthwhile project. Sometimes these pajamas are the only Christmas gift these kids receive. And often times it is their first pair of new pajamas.
