Qty Unit Ingredients

1 cup Korean Bake Flour

1 cup Water

1/2 ea Brown Onion

1/2 ea Young Zucchini

2 cups Mixed Seafood

(Prawn, Oyster, Mussel, Squid, etc)

10 ea Spring Onion

2 ea Egg

Salt & Pepper, Olive Oil

P.s: You can buy Korean bake flour at any Korean supermarket. (About $5)

Before we start, I want to argue about the English name of the food. I don't know why it is called pancake. I want to say "Korean Pizza" rather, because it has the same figure as pizza (O), crispy, and we

cut it and eat. I want to choice topping which anything I like.Anyways, the seafood pancake is traditional Korean cuisine which

can be cooked easily at home.

You can also change the main ingredient (ex. Seafood to Kim chi or anything you like)

Korean Pancake Dipping SauceSoy sauce (3T) Water (2T) Vinegar (2T) Sesame (1ts) Sesame sauce (1ts), Red Pepper Powder (1ts), Minced Garlic (1ts)

Cooking directions

First, cut brown onion, zucchini and spring onions to a one-bite size. Then, combine Korean bake flour, water, little bit of salt and pepper in a large bowl and stir them until they are all mixed. Put the main ingredient, mixed seafood (dry), and cut vegetable except spring onions in the same bowl. Mix them well (The dough is just made!)

Put the eggs and stir in a small bowl. Prepare a heated frying pan and spread olive oil thoroughly. Put one scoop of dough then spread it straight away. Add spring onions and half scoop of dough on top of the dough then spread evenly so that the sea food can be thoroughly mixed. Pour the stirred egg and turn it over.Tip; Make sure put some olive oil on the edge when you are frying the dough to prevent splitting.

DigressionIn Korea, Korean say pancake to Pa-Jun.

Pa-Jun is the most wellbeing food, representative dish which Koreans eat on a rainy day.The reason being,

Firstly, Korea was an agricultural society, therefore when its raining, the good owner used to serve rice wine for the tired peasants.

Secondly, when weather becomes humid, people usually search for an oily food. This is due to the fact that as humans feel a sense of

depression, blood-glucose level goes down and the floury Korean pancake allows maintenance of your blood glucose level.

Third, when pan frying the Korean pancake, oil slosh sounds like the rain and due to the low pressure, smell of burning oil spreads under ground

leaving with a crispy scent instead of evaporating away. Believe it or not

Enjoy!!

CaMi Insignares / Maria Elena Lara (Colombia)

A. We spend Christmas with family. All family members get

together, have dinner and exchange gifts on Christmas Eve.

Bunuelos and Natilla are traditional Colombian food we eat on Christmas. There is a Christmas tradition called “Novena”, which is

a nine day Christmas prayer. During 9 days people pray

appreciating the birth of Jesus Christ

Ryo Takahashi Coghlan (Japan)A. Christmas is not a holiday in Japan so

we do not particularly celebrate it getting together with family to have dinner or something. So Christmas is more like the day for those who have boyfriends or girlfriends like Valentine day, which if you are single, it means nothing. Nevertheless, all Christmas carols playing on the street, Santa, Christmas decorations in shops and

trees are enough to feel Christmas mood for everyone.

Karen Haire (Australia)A. It depends on your family, many Australians originally come from a lot of different places so

sometimes they don’t celebrate Christmas. Many people go on holiday to the beach, and

we usually have a family meal, often involving lots of seafood or a barbeque. Most people put up a plastic tree and Christmas lights are really

common, sometimes people drive around looking at other people’s Christmas lights.

Andressa Durante Vieira / Luis Carlos Lisboa (Brazil)

A. We visit grandparents’ house to celebrate Christmas on the night before Christmas and eat turkey, pernil, farofa and rice for dinner.

Before Christmas all family members draw lots to decide for whom I am going to buy a gift.

Then each family member secretly prepares a gift and

exchanges it on Christmas Eve after dinner saying what the

person is like or how special the person is and etc. We call this

“Amigo Secreto” (secret friend).

How long will you study at Navitas? I’m going to study at Navitas until the end of March next year.

Why did you choose Sydney to study? Three years ago I came to Australia on a working holiday visa. I stayed for a few months and realized that there are a lot of good language schools here. What’s more, there are opportunity to meet people from many different countries. What do you do in your free time?. ? I love to spend time with my friends going out to the pub or taking pictures around the city.

How is your life in Australia? I enjoy living in Australia and feel more relaxed here than I did in Japan.

Talk a bit about your background. . I am a middle child and I love my family very much. I played basketball in Elementary school to middle school.

What do you expect for the future? I expect that my English will improve! I know I need to make a big effort to be able to speak like a native speaker.
