The Commission is under the Office of the President and took over the functions of the Office on Muslim Affairs.

It covers all matters affecting Muslim Filipinos, including but not limited to, economic, educational and cultural concerns of Muslim Filipinos communities.

NCMF officially informed JAKIM of Malaysia and MUI of Singapore of the 3 accredited Halal-certifying Bodies and requested their recognition (January 16, 2014).14. NCMF attended the First Inter-Agency Technical Working Group Meeting with TESDA (September 10, 2013 at TESDA Bldg., Taguig City).

15. Meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Water, United Arab Emirates led by Dr. Abu Alush visited MMHCB and the DOST-ARMM Halal Laboratory in Cotabato City (June 7-10, 2013).

XI. Promotion and Development of the Halal Industry

ensure that the halal certifier is duly accredited by the NCMF; Request list of manufacturers of products using the Philippine Halal Logo;

Require prior endorsement from NCMF for the processing of products using the Philippine Halal Logo;

Participation of the NCMF in the inspection of factories of products declared as halal; and

with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) / Standard and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC)

OIC/SMIIC has developed the following standards:1. Guidelines for the Accreditation Body Accrediting Halal Certification Bodies2. Guidelines for Bodies Providing Halal Certification3. General Guidelines on Halal Food

Food and Drugs Authority It shall require manufacturers/producers to

secure prior endorsement from the NCMF for licensing establishment, product registration, and post-market surveillance of establishments and products.

Bureau of CustomsIt shall require exporters and importers to secure

endorsement from the NCMF prior to exportation and importation.

1.To have a strong partnership with all halal stakeholders.

2. To have a Halal National Standards on accreditation and certification compliant with world Halal standards.

3. To establish a fully- developed and dynamic Philippine Halal Industry competitive in the world market.
