Green Class Home Learning: Week beginning 15th June 2020 Dear Green Class, I hope you are all well and staying safe! It has been great to see your emails on our new class email ([email protected]) and I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing what you have been getting up to on the school website. Although I may not always be able to reply, I am checking the emails as much as possible. It has been a long time since we last saw each other, so I thought it may be a good idea to set you a challenge that you can share with me (and the rest of the class). Over the course of the week, I would like you to create a self-portrait (this means a picture of yourself) using anything you have available at home. You may like to draw a picture and colour or paint it, use different objects around your home to build yourself or you might do something completely different! I would love for you all to email me your finished portraits and I can share them on the school website - it would be good fun to guess whose portrait is whose. Have fun! Green Class Home Learning: Week beginning 15th June 2020

Dear Green Class,

I hope you are all well and staying safe! It has been great to see your emails on our new class email ([email protected]) and I have

thoroughly enjoyed sharing what you have been getting up to on the school website. Although I may not always be able to reply, I am checking the emails as

much as possible. It has been a long time since we last saw each other, so I thought it may be a good idea to set you a challenge that you can share with me

(and the rest of the class). Over the course of the week, I would like you to create a self-portrait (this means a picture of yourself) using anything you have

available at home. You may like to draw a picture and colour or paint it, use different objects around your home to build yourself or you might do something

completely different! I would love for you all to email me your finished portraits and I can share them on the school website - it would be good fun to guess

whose portrait is whose.

Have fun!

Miss Penrose :)

Here is an example of using objects from your home that Evi C created at the beginning of lockdown.

11am Maths White Rose Maths Summer Term Week 8– Alternative Plan w/c 15th June

IMPORTANT: The videos that accompany this set of lessons are here. They are not the same as the ones in the usual place on the White Rose website. We are following their alternative plan, which can be accessed through the White Rose website https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/ if you click on the purple tab which says Already covered this content?

All of the activity sheets and answers are available under this week’s Green Class Home Learning tab. This week we review the subtraction work that we covered during the Autumn term. Tip: Brilliant layout is very important when doing column subtraction. Make sure that you line up your digits carefully under each other when copying out the number sentences.

Monday – Subtract two 4-digit numbers – no exchange video: https://vimeo.com/427996624 Tip: ensure that when you write the comma between the thousands and hundreds it looks like a comma instead of a digit or a full stop. Tuesday – Subtract two 4-digit numbers – one exchange video: https://vimeo.com/428000196 Wednesday – Subtract two 4-digit numbers - more than one exchange video: https://vimeo.com/428000367 Thursday – Efficient Subtraction video: https://vimeo.com/428003455 Friday – Here you have three options to choose from:

1) Have a go at the Friday challenge with your families. 2) Review the previous 4 lessons from the week 3) Practise your Maths Passports.

Some useful websites for Maths Passports: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/daily10 https://www.topmarks.co.uk/money/toy-shop-money - this is good for Lost Island’s decimal numbers.

12pm Lunch Why not try some of the recipe ideas from the school catering service - click here for ideas.

1pm Relaxation/ reading

Why not try searching ‘relaxing/calming/classical music’ on YouTube to listen to while you read. Alternatively, you could try listening to http://app.smilingmind.com.au/

1.30pm various This week’s theme is Caring For Each Other and its aim is to get us thinking about how we all care for each other and the different ways that people do this. You will have a chance to look at charity work and to explore the roles of different people in society. I particularly like the Kindness Project activity which you could do every day this week, together with another activity of your choice. My other favourite is the Invent a New Charity activity. All the activities for this theme are under this week’s Green Class tab. Other activity suggestions – any resources that are not directly linked, can be found under the afternoon lesson resources on the website.
