• I live in Twinsburg, Ohio• Mr. Stauffer and I have 3

children: Brian (17 years old)David (14 years old)Julia (11 years old)**Dibbles (4 years old)

• My favorite color is purple.• One of my goals this year is to

keep learning! I plan to learn from students, parents, and other teachers. I also plan to attend workshops to learn things that will help us all in the classroom!

• I enjoy taking bike rides with my family, reading, swimming!

• I loveSMILEYS!

• My favorite restaurant is Carrabas.

• My favorite books are The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and Oh the Places You’ll Go!

• My favorite place to visit is Disney World.

• I hope to go to Australia some day!

We will be doing so muchin reading this year! Wewill read great stories,explore poetry, participatewith reader’s theater,develop fluency, and somuch more!

We’ll do:• Read Aloud• Guided Reading• Shared Reading• Independent Reading• Choral Reading• AND MORE!!!!

Our math curriculum includes:* Fact Fluency* Computational Skills* Essential Skills

- Operations and Algebraic Thinking

- Number Operations in Base Ten- Measurement and Data- Geometry

** Showing mathematical thinking is an important component of the program as well!

Elements Include:Phonics, Core Words, Pattern Words (LIST A & LIST B – based on pretest – the test will be administered again after winter break), language conventions (capitalization, punctuation)

Students will:• Build visual, spelling and language skills• Explore roots• Strengthen proofreading skills• And MORE!

Language and Spelling Skills

• We started writing workshop with narrative writing.

• Be sure to have plenty of sharp pencils!

• A sharp tip is a happy tip!• Keep a “pink pearl” eraser

handy!

I am very much looking forward to a great year! Iwill do my best to keep you informed of your child’s progress.
