Support Opportunities Next Week

If you are a Monday Blended Learning student, please enter through the main office (door K) no earlier

than 8:45, no later than 9am on Mondays. Sign in at 8;;45 and sign out at 11:30am will occur in that office.

As we have a very small office and space, parents are asked to not stay in the building during blended.

This is a great opportunity to meet with other parents at a nearby coffee shop or do some shopping.

Students should bring their laptops, snack, and water bottle. Dress for art or fitness!

What happened last week at Blended?

This past week, students attended a field trip to the Money Museum. Students learned about the history

of money and how the value of money has changed over time. They also saw how coins were made.



Apple Awards School Representatives

Thank you for taking the time to nominate eDCSD Staff members for the 2016 Apple Awards. The AppleAwards recognize excellence in education. We are please to announce that Mrs. Wanda Wilson will be thecertified school representative. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Wilson on earning this honor.

Safe 2 Tell

Safety is our priority at eDCSD. Safe2Tell Colorado provides students and adults, in Colorado schoolsand communities, an increased ability to both prevent and report violence by making ANONYMOUSreports. The 24‐hour anonymous bystander tip line, staffed by professionals from the Colorado StatePatrol, is available to students, parents, and communities to report any concerns regarding their safety orthe safety of others. Since 2004, Safe2Tell Colorado has received thousands of reports on issues relatingto bullying, suicides, substance abuse, child abuse, planned school attacks, weapons, fights, mentalhealth issues, and other concerning behaviors.

How to Make a Report:

MOBILE APP: Students, parents and community members may download the mobile app from the AppleApp Store (ios) or Google Play (android) and may make a report from their smartphone.

WEB: Reports may be submitted online by completing a secure, anonymous web report atsafe2tellco.orgby clicking "Submit a Tip."

CALL 1‐877‐542‐7233: Concerns can by given to trained Colorado State Patrol dispatchers by calling thetoll‐free hotline.

CU-Boulder

The Colorado Math Circle will be hosting the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) 10/12 on boththe A and B dates at CU-Boulder. These exams lead to the American Invitational Mathematics Exam(AIME) and USA Mathematical Olympiads (USAMO/USAJMO). In addition, selective colleges recognizehigh AMC scores as an indication of strong mathematical ability.

The A and B exams offer different test questions;; you may take the AMC on both dates to maximize yourscore. Note that most large high schools offer the AMC A exams but few offer the B exams. Check withyour math teacher if you are not sure. Here are sample AMC 10 and AMC 12 tests.

If you would like to take the AMC at CU, please complete this registration form by December 13. Note thateleventh and twelfth graders must take the AMC 12. Younger students (including middle schoolers) maytake either the AMC 10 or AMC 12.

Fees: There is no charge to take the AMC test. Because we need to order the tests in advance, however,there will be a cancellation fee of $15 if you sign up and then do not take the test.

NACLO

The Colorado Math Circle also will host the Open Round of the North American Computational LinguisticsOlympiad (NACLO), a contest that includes computational linguistics puzzles. No prior knowledge of



linguistics or foreign languages is necessary. Students who are strong in math usually enjoy these

puzzles. Visit the NACLO site for sample practice problems.

Note that the NACLO contest is designed for high school students. Middle school students should be able

to solve at least a few practice problems without help before signing up.

If you would like to participate in the Open Round of the NACLO, please register through the NACLO

website by selecting “Students”->”Registration". Choose "University of Colorado at Boulder" as your

testing location. There is no participation fee.
