Database Setup Tool
1. IntroductionThe Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2003 commandline script
tool, dbsetup, can be used to move a Live Communications Server database dataand lo files to different hard dis!s than the" #ere oriinall" installed on$
1.1 Problem Statement
%n order for a Live Communications Server to perform #ell, it is critical that the
&ser Services database 'MS()* data and transaction lo files reside on different
ph"sical hard dis!s$ %f it is not specified e+plicitl" durin Setup, these files #illinstall on the same hard dis!$ This tool allo#s an administrator to relocate them
as needed$
1.2 Products Utilized
The dbsetup tool is a indo#s Script -ost script file$ indo#s Script -ost
version .$/ 'or later* is reuired for it to run$

2.1 Setup
(bsetup$#sf is located in the documents folder of the Live Communications
Server C($
2.2 UsageUsage: dbsetup.wsf /movefiles [/dbpath:value] [/logpath:value] [/verbose]
Options:
movefiles: Moves the data file and/or log file of an existingdatabase according to the dbpath and/or logpath
parameters specified.
dbpath: The path where the data file should be moved.
logpath: The path where the log file should be moved.
The movefiles option must be specified$

2.3 How to Use the Dbsetup Tool
The Live Communications Server must be stopped before usin this tool$ To do
so, issue the follo#incommand from an operatin s"stem command #indo#1
net stop rtcsrv /
6un the follo#in to move the database and lo files to their ne# locations1
cscript.exe //nologo dbsetup.wsf /movefiles /dbpath:!newdbpath"/logpath:!newlogpath" /verbose
The Live Communications Server can then be restarted #ith1net start rtcsrv

The follo#in sho#s an e+ample #hich moves the database file to a director"called 7d18LC (ata9 and the transaction lo file to a director" called 7e18LC Lo9$
%t is assumed that d1 and e1 are separate ph"sical drives for optimal performance$
