  • SuccessfulSet-Up For A

    Celebration!

From Cara Carroll at The First Grade Parade

  • After years of trying to find the **best** way to organize my 100th Day activities, I

finally found a way (that works for me!!!!) to fit it all in. There are SO many fun and

exciting activities out there to celebrate this milestone and Im always trying to

finagle my schedule to fit everything inan absolutely IMPOSSIBLE task (no matter how

hard I try!) I started organizing our day into stations in

an effort to fit in as much as possiblebest idea EVER!!! Of course, this

is what worked for the dynamic in my classroom and for the schedule I was working with. I know its different for

everyone There is a bit of prep work involved, but let me just tell you that the

juice is worth the squeeze. In the words of one of my students, Its like ALL OF MY

    DREAMS HAVE COME TRUE!!!!!

  • The following page is a printable for your kids to color. Super simple, but I adhered these to an 11x14

piece of construction paper.folded in halfand used this as a cover for their 100 day

folders. They kept their folders in their seats on the 100th day and

each time theyd complete an activity with a product, they would

place their work in their hundred day folder. Im a sappy mom who likes to hoard papers and crafts

from important days, so I liked the idea of having everything from

their special day all in one placeplus, it was a perfect little

way to keep everything in one place for their parents to see

  • OF SCHOOL!

    We made it!

    Hip, hip, hooray!

  • The following page is a printable for 100 day crown labels. I adhered these to large pieces of poster board that I cut down to size (so sorry, cant remember the exact measurements). A

sentence strip would work for this as well. Then I cut out 101 inch strips of construction

paper per student, adhered them to the tip of the crown, and then had the kids stick 10

stickers to each of the strips for their 100 day crowns. I had these assembled and on their

deskswith a pre-portioned amount of sticker sheets per tablefor their 100 Day morning

work. This kept them busyand excitedwhile they anticipated the activities for the day!!

  • I ran 8 different rotations of 8 hundred day stations. These went on throughout the day. I would say that each rotation lasted anywhere from 15-20 minutes. I walked around the whole time, so I was able to gauge if more or less time

was needed per rotation. I really wanted my kids to have the autonomy

to choose their own stations, but Im a bit of a control freak, so I had to give them the freedom

to choose with limits Our 100 Day punch cards worked perfectly for this. I gave one to

each of my kids before starting the day and explained that they were to punch the number corresponding with the station card each time

they rotated to a new station. I had a hole punch available at each station as well. They had to complete the activity before punching

their cards. I walked around during this time to make sure they were sticking to the honor code Their names were on their cards and they kept them in their hundred day folders while

they were performing the tasks at each station. I loved that these went home at the end of the day as wellthis was fun for parents to catch

    a glimpse into our day!!!

  • The following pages contain directions for each of the stations I set up on

the 100th day as well as printable station cards and visuals for each activity. Im a visual learner, so I hope that these help to visually explain it all for you, too! You can read

more about our 100th day of fun HERE.

  • Station #1 Hershey Kiss 100s ChartMaterials needed: 100 Hershey kiss candies, circle stickers (aka garage sale dots), poster size 100 chart

This activity takes a little bit of time to prep, so you might even want to enlist the help of your kids (personal or classroom ;) Label the circle stickers (garage sale dots) with the numbers 1-100. Place a

sticker on the bottom of each Hershey kiss. Place all of the kisses in a large container/basket/tub/bucket. At this station, youll want to have the basket of kisses and a poster

size 100s chart available to the kids.

The object of this activity is to have the kids match the numbers on the bottom of each kiss to the numbers on the 100s chart. The activity is complete when all of the numbers are matched/covered.

  • 1. Hershey Kiss 100 Chart

Match the numbers on the bottom of the

kisses to the numbers on the 100 chart.

Cover each number on the 100 chart with

    a kiss!

  • Station #2- Build a 100 cup structureMaterials needed: 100 solo cups the mini cups are what we usedmuch more space efficient!

Take 100 solo cups (the mini cups are a great option for this activity) and place them in a basket/tub/container. I picked a spot on our carpet for this activity since a lot of space was needed

    to complete the task.

The object of this activity is to have the kids use all 100 cups to build a structure. It can be ANY type of structure so long as they use all 100 cups. My kids ate this up like ice cream!!! Absolutely LOVED it!

  • 2. Build a 100cup structure

    Build a structure using 100

    plastic cups. Have fun!

  • Station #3 100 Pattern Block CreationMaterials needed: 3-4 sets of 100 pattern blocks portioned out into baggies/containers

This station will take a little prep time, but you could cut your time in half by enlisting the help of your kids! You couldeasily incorporate a math tub activity (prior to the 100th day) where kids have to place pattern blocks in groups of 10

and then bag them upthen all youd have to do is combine those groups of 10s to make 3-4 sets of 100 Just a thought. Place each set of 100 pattern blocks into a large ziplock and then set them out in a tub/container/bucket.The object of this activity is to have the kids use all 100 pattern blocks make a creation. This is actually a bit more

challenging than it seemsso many of them only wanted to use a few because they had a specific creation in mind they wanted to make. It was a fun activity to stretch and challenge their thinking and imaginations! I wanted them to

document their creations, so I set out my iPad at this station so that they could snap a pic of what they created. I had them place their desk tags/name cards in the same picture so that I knew whos was whose. Another ideahave your

kids come to you when they finish and take a picture of them WITH their creation. I printed them out during our planning time and sent them home with the kids in their 100th day folders!

  • 3. 100 Pattern Block Creation

Assemble a pattern block creation using 100 pattern blocks. Take a picture with

    your creation!

  • Station #4 100 Gumballs Materials needed: Class set of paper plates, red construction paper for the base of the gumball machine printable for the

gumball machine (attached), and bingo dotters OR in construction paper circles

Prior to this activity, construct the gumball machines so theyre ready to go. Just cut out a gumball machine base (I included a template), glue or staple the paper plate to the top of the gumball machine, and adhere the label to the base

(I included the label as well). Place these in a tub so the kids can grab and go when its their turn. The objective of this activity is to have kids dot or glue 100 circles inside the paper plate (To represent gumballs).

Nowthe problem we encountered was keeping track of the number of gumballs that were dotted (We used the bingo dotters). I would suggest using 10 different colors and dot the gumballs in sets of 10. I know bingo dotters are limited oncolor, so another option would be to take 10 different colors of construction paper and cut out in circles. You can use a circle punch (like this one) and that process would go by rather quickly (relatively speaking ) It could be a

great opportunity for your kids to practice their fine motor skills and they could be responsible for punching them out for youif youre brave enough to let them! HA!!

This activity was inspired by the fabulous JULIE LEE of Mrs. Lees Kinder Kids. You can check out her 100 Day activities by clicking

GUMBALL MACHINE BASE TEMPLATEUse this template as a tracer and then glue the labels on each base OR

print this template on red construction paper and cut! I included the labels in case you are unable to print a set of bases

GUMBALL MACHINE LABELSUse these labels to glue onto the gumball machine base if you arent able to print off

    the base template in red.

  • 4. 100 Gumballs

Use the dotters to dot, or the circles to

glue, 100 gumballs inside of your gumball

    machine.

  • Station #5 marshmallow/Toothpick CreationsMaterials needed: Marshmallows (1 baggie of 100 for each student), toothpicks (keep a couple of boxes of these on

handthey get too sticky to reuse!!!)

This activity is pretty easy to set up, but boy is it sticky!!!! Count out 100 marshmallows and place them into baggies. This could be an activity you complete PRIOR to the 100th day. Use a 10s counting board and have the kids count out 10

sets of 10 marshmallows and then have them each place a set of 100 into a baggie. This activity works best if each student has their own set of marshmallows and toothpicks. They wont end up using 100 toothpicks, but I would keep lots of toothpicks on hand because they arent reusable after the kids have their hands on themtheyre WAY too

sticky!!! The objective of this activity is to have the kids use their baggie of marshmallows and the toothpicks to create a

structure of some sort. This typically fits right into our 3D shape study. By this point, weve done something similar to this with 3D shapes, so the kids were very familiar with what to do. They absolutely LOVED this activity!! Keep some

baby wipes and hanitizer on hand because youll definitely need it!!!

  • 5. 100 Marshmallow/Toothpick

    CreationUse the marshmallows

and toothpicks to create a structure.

  • Station #6 100 Snap Cubes CreationMaterials needed: 2-3 sets of 100 snap cubes

Heres another easy-to-set-up activity that your kids will love! Snap cube creations! Youll need two or three containers/buckets/tubs to

house your cubes. Place 100 cubes in each tub. The objective of this activity is to have the kids use all of the cubes to make a creation.ANY kind of creation as long as all 100 snap cubes are

    connected. FUN!!!

  • 6. 100 Snap CubesCreation

Use 100 snap cubes to build a creation.

  • Station #7 Roll & Race to 100Materials needed: 3-4 dice, Roll & Race to 100 printable OR 100 chart printable, markers or crayons

For this activity, my class used THIS ROLL ONE HUNDRED PRINTABLE.If you dont have this printable, you could also use a 100 chart printable. The objective of

this activity is for students to roll 1 die and then color in the matching number of pennies..or boxes on the 100 chartthat correspond with the amount they roll on their die. Students will continue to roll and color until their pennies/boxes are completely full!

Because markers are such a hot commodity in my classroom, I pulled out the Scentos for this one and let them go to town. Excited was an understatement! HA!

The Roll One Hundred printable is from my 100th Day --- Its Kind of a Big

    Deal packet.

  • 7. Roll and Race to 100

Roll the die. Color in the matching number of

pennies or boxes on the paper. Continue rolling the die and coloring the

pennies or boxes to match the amount you roll until all of the coins or boxes are colored.

  • Station #8 Ice Cream Scoop 10sMaterials needed: 10 ice cream scoops per child (different colors, if possible), 1 ice cream cone per child, counting by 10s labels.

Prior to the activity, you will need to cut out 10 ice cream scoops and 1 ice cream cone per student. You will also need to print out the counting by 10s labels and make sure there

are enough copies for every student in your classroom. The objective of this activity is for students to assemble a 10-scoop ice cream cone and label each scoop counting by 10s. Ive included the ice cream scoop & cone templates ---

these can be printed off and used as is OR you can use them as a tracer. Ive also included the counting by 10s printable as well.

This activity was inspired by the fabulous JULIE LEE of Mrs. Lees Kinder Kids. You can check out her 100 Day activities by clicking
