ECLYPSE™ Connected System Controller Overview The ECLYPSE Connected System Controller is a modular and scalable platform that is used to control a wide range of HVAC applications. It supports multi-protocol communications includ- ing BACnet/IP and is a listed BACnet Building Controller (B-BC). The ECLYPSE Connected System Controller consists of a control, automation and connectiv- ity server, power supply, and I/O extension mod- ules. This programmable Connected System Con- troller provides advanced functionality such as customizable control logic, Web-based design and visualization interface (ENVYSION embed- ded), logging, alarming, and scheduling. Applications The ECLYPSE Connected System Controller is typically used as: £ A controller for medium/large sized Air Han- dling Units (AHU), central plant, lighting, power monitoring, and other applications. £ Small building server and equipment con- troller with embedded ENVYSION. Scalable and ModularThe Connected System Controller is sized tocost-effectively meet the requirements of anyHVAC application from small to medium to largesystems. The most capable Connected SystemController model can be expanded to support upto 20 input/output (I/O) modules (up to 320 I/Os)while being able to adapt to new requirementsas the need arises.A range of I/O modules are available that haveuniversal inputs and outputs, digital inputs withfast pulse support for use with energy metersand counters, 24VAC triac outputs for use withsmaller load applications (up to 1 amp) such aselectric fans and motors/actuators and relay out-puts for larger load/high power applications suchas electric heat and high power actuators.

The Connected System Controller’s recurrentpower supply concept can be used when morepower is required to power a series of I/O mod-ules. A 100 to 240VAC power supply moduleeliminates the need for a line voltage to 24VACpower transformer to save installation costs andtime. A 24 VAC / VDC power supply module isequally available.A connecting cable is used to connect succes-sive rows of modules within a controls’ cabinetto provide power and communication.

BACnet/IP DeviceThe Connected System Controller is BTL-listedas a BACnet Building Controller (B-BC) and iscertified WSP B-BC (Europe) and AMEV AS-A(German-speaking countries). It supports BAC-net/IP for faster communication in comparison tothe traditional twisted pair communication bus.

Multi-Protocol SupportThe Connected System Controller supports arange of communication protocols such as BAC-net MS/TP, Modbus RTU, and Modbus TCP.BACnet MS/TP and Modbus RTU communica-tions are made by connecting directly to sepa-rate RS-485 ports. The Connected System Con-troller integrates up to three RS-485 ports whenequipped with one ECY-RS485 extension mod-ule allowing the controller to support more thanone trunk or communication protocol at a time.

MS/TP to IP routingIntegrate full MS/TP trunks into a supervisorysystem like the EC-NetAX Supervisor, without theneed for other hardware components such asan external BACnet MS/TP to IP router.

Modbus RTU and TCPModbus RTU and TCP communication can beused to integrate a wide variety of Modbus de-vices such as power and water meters, VariableFrequency Drives, air flow sensors, and more,without the need for additional hardware suchas a gateway.

Smart Room Control SupportThe Smart Room Control solution is an end-to-end system for the control of HVAC equipment,lighting, and shades/sunblinds, achieving thehighest levels of comfort for occupants whilecutting costs from installation time and wiring/material requirements to energy consumption.This solution combines:£ Lighting and shade/sunblind expansion

Hand/Off/Auto Switches andPotentiometersThe front assembly of Hand/Off/Auto (HOA)equipped I/O models allow users to override thecontrol outputs for commissioning and mainte-nance purposes.Universal outputs have potentiometers providingmanual analog signal and output control to over-ride voltage or current signal.

Hot-Swappable Tool-Less Design andUnique Latching MechanismThe I/O modules are hot-swappable for replace-ment without interrupting power and communi-cations to other modules.The front assembly of I/O modules separatefrom the wiring base by pushing the two latchesup to unlock a module’s front assembly and thenopening and pulling the hinged gull-wing covers.The latch design locks the front assembly to thewiring base.The hinged gull-wing design protects and coverthe stacked dual row I/O terminal strips.

Ease of InstallationThe Connected System Controller modules areplug & play devices. They are equipped withHD-15 connectors that transmits power andcommunications to the next module for fast andeasy assembly.

I/O Status LEDsThe status LEDs on the I/O modules allows theuser to confirm the status of the inputs/outputsand facilitate commissioning and troubleshoot-ing.

Auto-AddressingThe auto-addressing feature eliminates theneed to manually assign an address to each I/Omodule therefore reducing installation and con-figuration time.

Digital Inputs Up to 120HzThe ECY-16DI module supports pulsed signalsup to 120Hz for equipment status monitoringand alarm point monitoring, commonly used inenergy metering applications.

Color-Coded, Rising Cage TerminalsTerminal blocks are uniquely identified andcolor-coded for clarity and to prevent wiring mis-takes. The rising cage clamp terminal block con-nectors offer a more robust and secure wireconnection, designed to withstand activity andvibrations.

Robust ProtectionThe I/O modules are protected against mis-wiring and faults to prevent damage caused byincorrect wiring or other mishaps.The power supply module contains over-voltageand over-current output protection to protect theelectronics in unstable power supply conditionsand against mis-wiring.

Alarms, Trend Log, Schedule SupportEmbedded alarms, trend log and schedule sup-port allows for fully distributed data and logicproviding a more robust system. Embeddedtrend logs simplify system troubleshooting whencompared to a centralized system.

Email Notifications ServiceTechnicians & facility managers can receive au-tomatic email notifications for system status andalarms to ensure faster system servicing and re-sponse time. Email notification text can be cus-tomized to provide pertinent information aboutthe issue at hand.
