Creusabro 4800(Plate and sheet)Creusabro 4800isahighperformancewearresistantsteel,exhibitingawearresistance50%higherthanthatofconventional400HBwaterquenchedsteel.Thegradeoffersthebestpossibleoptimizationofanexceptionalwearresistanceandveryacceptableworkability.
PropertiesofCreusabro4800areimprovedasaresultofthecombinationofanenrichedchemicalcomposition(chromium,molybdenumandtitanium)andspecificheattreatmentprocedures(oilquenching).ThisconferstoCreusabro4800animprovedhighwearresistanceandaverygoodaptitudeforprocessing,farbetterthanother400HBwaterquenchedsteels.
METALLURGICAL CONCEPT
Abrasionresistanceisnotexclusivelyconnectedtothehardnessofthesteelintheasdeliveredcondition.Alsothechemicalcompositionandthemicrostructurestronglyinfluenceitsperformance.
AbalancedchemicalcompostionandmanufacturingprocessesofCreusabro4800impartamicrostructuretothesteelwhichstronglyimprovesitswearresistancebytakingadvantageofasurfacehardeningeffectofabout70HB,whatevertheappliedstrainlevelis(impact,pressureetc.).
TRANSFORMATION INDUCED BY PLASTICITY (TRIP) EFFECT
Creusabro4800hasthecapabilitytoworkhardeninservicebylocalplasticdeformationstransformingretainedausteniteintoveryhardfreshmartensite,whichincreaseswearresistance.TheTRIPeffectalsocontributestothedelayofchipremovalfromthesteelundertheactionofabrasiveparticles.
FINE DISPERSION OF MICRO CARBIDES
ThefinemicrostructureofCreusabro4800isobtainedbyafinedispersionofmicrocarbides,justtheoppositeoftheroughacicularlamellarstructuretypicalof400HBwaterquenchedsteels.
