Rihanna, 25, will take the show to five Australian cit- ies in September and Oct- ober, stopping off at Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Mel- bourne and Sydney, before a sixth show in Auckland. White Eagle Entertain- ment owner and founder Colin Nichaloff — who was responsible for bringing hip hop artist Ice Cube to Dar- win last year — said he was in talks with Rihanna’s man- agement to add the Top End to the tour. ‘‘They have offered (Dar- win) September 20 or 21,’’ Mr Nichaloff said. The singer’s team report- edly quoted a performance fee — excluding security costs and venue hire — of more than $1 million. Mr Nichaloff would not confirm or deny the figure, but he said having Rihanna in Darwin would be worth a hefty price. ‘‘It would be good for the Territory, good for the peo- ple and it would be good to get the Darwin community involved,’’ he said. Mr Nichaloff said he want- ed local businesses and the NT Government to come on board as major sponsors and throw their support behind bringing the star to Darwin. ‘‘If a lot of local businesses get together they could con- tact me and we can figure something out to get Rihan- na here,’’ he said. Mr Nichaloff said he want- ed the concert to be held at TIO Stadium, Marrara. ‘‘My plan is just to get Ri- hanna to Darwin. That would be great — if not Dar- win misses out,’’ he said. In eight years, Rihanna has sold an estimated 100 million albums world- wide and is currently dominating the charts with her latest single Diamonds. Anger at doorstep delivery DARWIN shopkeepers are disgusted by the latest itin- erant outrage. Clare McDonald arrived at work yesterday morning to find a man had squatted down on the front doorstep of her shop and then gone to the toilet. He had then hurled his jocks away — and they had landed on the door lock. The landlords sent a clean- ing team in immediately. Ms McDonald, 41, who has managed the mobile ac- cessory shop in Smith Street Mall since 1996, said that she was revolted by the toilet incident. ‘‘It’s vile,’’ she said. ‘‘The cleaners did a fan- tastic job.’’ Many traders now say that drunken and antisocial behaviour has increased dramatically in the city centre during the past few months. But Ms McDonald said it- inerants weren’t normally a problem. ‘‘There’s a brawl a couple of times a week,’’ she said. ‘‘And they humbug and drink. But we’ve all become so used to it that we don’t think that’s too bad.’’ The owners of the Viva La Vida tapas bar, which is just around the corner from the mobile phone shop where the latest incident took place, described Dar- win CBD as a ‘‘war zone’’.
