OverviewTo set up a new league, you will perform all of the following tasks:

Enter the general league settings.

Add the locations.

Add the teams.

Add the players.

Set up the handicapping (optional).

Set up the schedule.

Set up the match information.

Generate the league files.

Each section describes the steps required to complete each task listed above.

League Creation WizardLeagueLeader takes you through creating a league step by step. This chapter will take you through eachstep in the process. The list below are the basics of the steps that will be covered. For further informa-tion, use the steps on the following pages.

Start a new league.

Choose to make a Dart, Pool or Shuffleboard league.

Enter in the basic league information.

Assign locations.

Enter in the team and player information.

Create a shooting order.

Generate a schedule (see Chapter 5).

Set up the handicapping for the league.

Generate files.

Dart League SettingsWhen first creating a league, after selecting the league type, you will need to enter in all the basic information. This window can also be reached by clicking on the Modify link under the league heading.

1. This is the name of your league. It can only handle up to six alpha-numeric characters. Do not use punctuation or spaces.

2. Type in a description of, 25 characters or less, for the league.This description will appear on thedartboards.

3. Use the drop down box and click on the day of the week matches are to be played.4. Use the drop down box to select the time the matches are to start.5. Use the drop down box to select the number of regular players that are on each team. Do not

include substitute players.6. A check mark indicates if a particular league is currently active. When a league is no longer being

played (i.e., at the end of the league season), uncheck this box. This will keep the league in LeagueLeader to be accessed later.

7. Check this box if you want to allow the players in this league to be sanctioned by the NDA. This option is to make sanctioning your players easier (see page 8.3).

8. Checking this box will keep the player stats for the last game of the match. If unchecked, the playerstats for the last game will be discarded and only the team stats will be saved for this game. Thisonly applies if the league has an odd number of games.

Adding LocationsYou will need to assign locations to both dart and pool leagues. This is to necessary to create a schedule.

1. Click on the green plus sign ( ) to add a location to the league.2. Click on a red minus sign ( ) to remove a location from a league.3. Click Create and Include New Location to create a new location and add it to the league you are

creating (see Creating a New Location).

9. Use this option if you only want to send Standings and Schedules to the board. With this option, the players will not be able to play their leagues on the board.

10. Enter the weekly team fee (in dollars). 11. This must be selected if Team Fees are to be collected at the dartboard.12. Use the drop down box to select which type of handicapping you want to use in the league.

Creating a New Location

Adding locations can be done from the LeagueLeader league setup wizard or by clicking on the Add linkunder the Locations heading. Once a new location has been added to a league it is also added to theMaster Location List. This means that when you next create a league all you will have to do is select thelocation from the list.

1. Enter a name for the location.2. Enter its address.3. Enter all important phone numbers.

a. Voice Phone is the line the location uses for verbal communication.b. Data Phone, which is only used for manual calls, is the line the dartboards are on. c. Fax Phone is the line the fax machine is on.

4. Enter the amount the locations pay as a Sponsor Fee.5. Add any machines you want to the location. Currently there are four machine types you can add.

Adding Dartboards to the Location

LeagueLeader allows you to add multiple boards to the location. Follow the instructions below to learn how.

1. Click on the To bring you to the Add a Machine screen.

2.. Select the Machine Type you want to add. Since we are making a dart location, we’ll just focus on the dartmachines for now. The settings are the same so we’ll choose a Galaxy II

3. Fill in the basic detals such as the Screen ID, Machine Name and number of boards.

4. If you want, you can edit the Call Settings.5. You may also wish to edit the profile. For more

information see Machine Settings.

Edit Call Settings

1. Choose which days you want marked active. By defaultevery day is marked active.

2. Decide if you want to change the Start and End time.3. Decide what type of call you want LeagueLeader to

make. a. Internet Callout means that the dartboards will call

the internet once you have all the settings in place.b. Call this machine with LeagueComm tells

LeagueLeader that you want to have your computer,using our program LeagueComm, to callthe dartboard.

c. This machine call LeagueComm means that thedartboards will call your computer, not the internet.

Adding TeamsAdding a team to the league can either be done through league creation wizardor by clicking on the Add link under theTeam Heading.

1. Enter the team's name.2. Enter in the division the team is in

(if any).3 Select the location the team is

from.4. Click on Add under Player Name to

add players to the team. You can search for an existing player or create a new one.

5. Decide who is the captain.6. Use Edit to make changes to the

player. Use Remove to delete the player from the team.

7. Click OK.8. Repeat for more teams.

Adding teams cannot be done from Master.

Creating A New PlayerPlayers can be added from the League Creation Wizard, from a specific league or from Master. In allthese cases LeagueLeader directs you to the Create A New Player dialog. If creating a player from anyscreen other than the Master, LeagueLeader will ask you to pick a team.

1. Enter the player’s name.2. Enter a suffix, if any.3. Enter a seven character Nickname if desired. If the field is left blank, the Galaxy II will display the

first twenty characters of the player’s name.

4. Select the player’s sex (Male or Female ).5. If this information is tracked, enter the player’s Social Security Number, otherwise leave blank.6. Enter the player’s Address, City, State, and Zip Code.7. Enter the player’s phone number. Space is allocated for home and mobile numbers.8. Enter the player’s e-mail address, if desired.9. Enter the players NDA number (if any), if he/she paid their dues and modify NDA Sanction date.

Click OK to save the player information. When adding players outside the League Setup Wizard, youwill be returned to the league page.

Division Setup

The Division Setup screen allows you to change the division of any of your teams in the league withouthaving to modify the specific team.

Note: LeagueLeader does not require that a league have the same number of teams in each division.

Match SetupThe League Setup Wizard will automatically take you to the match setup. You may choose to skip this part of the Setup Wizard and come back to it later. In order to open the match setup screen after league creation, click Match Setup under the league heading. This cannot be done from the Master.

1. Click Add to insert games to the setup. From that screen you can choose any game available and tell LeagueLeader how many of the specific game to add.

2. Clicking the Delete button will remove any selected game. 3. Clicking Game Type allows you to change the game type of any game you have listed. For

example: If you added 11 games of 301 Open In/Open Out instead of 501 Open In/Open Out, clicking Game Type will allow you to change all 11 games to 501 Open In/Open Out.

4. The Game Up and Game Down buttons allow you to move a selected game anywhere in the list.5. To set up the shooting order manually, drag the home and visitor players to the score boxes in the

order they are to shoot in the game. Repeat for the rest of the match.

6. To have LeagueLeader create your shooting order for you, click Generate Automatically. This will create a shooting order for your match. After this is done you can adjust the shooting order to your liking.

7. The Games display shows the shooting order for each game in the match.8. This table displays the number of games each player will play in the match.9. This table displays the number of times each players starts a game in the match.10. Click Match Options to:

Set the bullseye types (Single or Double Bull) for each game type.Allow Set Substitution. This option allows substitutions to be brought in at the beginning of each set instead of the beginning of the match.Set the Next Game Shooting Order type. This will allow you to mix up the next game order by

choosing between As Programmed, Loser First, and Winner First.11. Templates allows you to use or create pregenerated match setups for your league (see below).12. Click OK to finish match setup.

Templates

LeagueLeader can store any shooting order you create as a template. The saved template can then be used as the shooting order rather than creating a new one.

Creating a Template

To create a template follow the instructions below:

1. Create a shooting order as normal. 2. Click Templates.3. Select Create a new template.4. Click Next.5. Give the template a name and a description. 6. Click Save.

Using a Template

Follow the instructions below to use a template:

1. Click Templates.2. Select Use an existing template. This will only display templates that the league can use.

Example: It will not show a four person template for a two person league.3. Click Next.4. Click on the appropriate template. This will show you the template’s match setup before you insert it

into the league.5. Click Insert. You will be warned that this will overwrite your current shooting order. Click OK to

insert the template or Cancel to stop.

Using an Existing League’s Shooting Order

Any playing order that has ever been created in LeagueLeader can be used as a template:

1. Click Templates.2. Select Use an Existing league’s shooting order.3. Click Next.4. Click the league template to be used.5. Click Insert.

This allows you to have the same match setup every season without creating a new template.

Delete Template

Templates may also be removed:

1. Click Templates.2. Select Delete a Template.3. Click Next.4. Select the template to be deleted. This will display the template’s shooting order.5. Click Delete.

Generating FilesOnce the league has been set up(league, location, team, player, andmatch information), you need to com-municate this information to the dartmachines. This process will convert theweb data into a format that is easilyread by the dartboards. The dartmachines use this information to auto-matically set up and run a match. Theplayers then use a menu system onthese machines to set up a match.Follow the instructions below:

1. Click on the Generate Files link located under the Utilities menu.

2. Choose the files to generate. By default they are all selected.

3. Choose if you want to Generate Schedules With Numbers. This will assign numbers to the teams in the schedule and will use the numbers in place of the team names when displaying the schedule.

4. Choose if you want to Hide Completed Matches on your schedules. With this option checked, the schedule that goes to the dartboard will only display matches that haven't been played yet, includingmake up matches.

5. If you have a Shuffleboard attached to a highspeed network, you can set up LeagueLeader to automatically update the machine everytime you generate files.

6. Click OK.7. After the files have been generated, LeagueLeader will display a report showing you the status of

your files. Not only will this report show which files have errors, but what those errors are.

View FilesThe View Files function allows you to view the files before they are sent to the dart board.

1. Under the Utilities menu, click on the View Files link.

2. Click on a specific Location from the list. Awindow will be brought up displaying all the files LeagueLeader has assigned to that location and its file size .

3. Click on the thumbnail of a file to view it.
