Aspaziya Borisova. THE EUROPEAN LANGUAGE POLICY FROM THE SIGNING OF THE EUROPEAN CULTURAL CONVENTION IN 1954 − A CHRONOLOGICAL SURVEY

The work features a historical survey of the modern European language policy from its

origin, a start thereof being the signing of the European Cultural Convention (1954), up to the first years of the new millenium. A chronological survey is made of the events, projects and documents that are the milestones of the trends in foreign language teaching in the Unified Europe. A focus is set on the Common European Framework of Reference, the European Language Portfolio, the European Centre for Modern Languages in Graz, Austria, the European Year of the Languages (2001), the present institutions involved in the conducting of the language policy of the Council of Europe. The survey also shows the principles that are the basis of this policy.

Milena Veleva. LEXICO-GRAMMATICAL CATEGORY OF GENDER IN BULGARIAN LANGUAGE

Тази статия е посветена на лексико-граматическата категория род като една от основните характеристики на съществителните имена в съвременния български език. На основата на традиционния модел на тричленна родова система категорията род се разглежда в плана на изразяването и в плана на съдържанието. Описва се разпределението на съществителните имена в родови класове въз основа на формалните им показатели в ед. и мн. число и се застъпва становището, че в плана на изразяването най-последователно и еднозначно категорията род се проявява в процеса на синтактичното съгласуване и при местоименната съотнесеност в рамките на кореферентната верига. В плана на съдържанието се разглежда връзката между род и пол, както и формалноструктурното значение на категорията род. Правят се изводи за изключително важната роля на категорията род за структурната организация на словосъчетанието, простото и сложното изречение и текста.

The purpose of this article is to acquaint with Chinese symbolism and logic of Chinese hieroglyphics, which have preserved the connection between the words’form and denotation.

Chinese people still believe that personal advance in life and perfection can be gained by observing natural laws. Particular attention is paid to the interrelaton between people and nature. This underlies the basis of hieroglyphic graphics, which are closely related to historical development and changes in reality.

The question of the semiotic nature of proverbs and sayings has not yet been

discussed,from a scientific point of view. That is why it should be brought up for detailed consideration in the Bulgarian Language. The task of this work is to put forward three important theoretical questions:

1.The nature of the proverbs and sayings as Language and folklore units. 2.The difference between a proverb and a saying as theoretically typified. 3.The semiotic nature of these Language entities viewed as "semiosis"-in its abstract

and literal aspect. The theoretical conclusions have aimed at becomong a starting point for some future

research where a certain amount of Language material will be analysed. Considered in the semiotic field of the Bulgarian Language,the proverbs and sayings are

essential Language signs which clearly and unambiguously characterize the communication behaviour of people and the realization of mental and cognitive processes in social and cultural life.

According to the author the semiotic nature of proverbs and sayings is the basis of a new approach to their study,of a new classification which will make it possible to compile a dictionary of proverbs and sayings in the Bulgarian Language.

noun, adjective/participle governing a preposition followed by a complement [See 14, p.58]. Traditionally, prepositions are divorced from any lexical character they might show [17, p.7]. For this reason, it is often the case that Bulgarian teachers of English recommend the “learn-by-heart” approach to English prepositions. This paper, however, advocates the analogy principle, which seeks logical grounding based on affinity.

The present paper focuses on metaphors with the eyes as tenor and ‘light’ words as vehicle

[see 14, p. 310]. Due to the abundance of ‘light’ expressions in English, Bulgarian students often feel undecided on the selection of an appropriate item to convey the precise meaning and exact emotion behind every single situation. Literal sense and componential analysis are the vehicles employed here to discriminate between synonyms so that the choice made perfectly matches the particular occasion.

Една от темите, по които преподавателите по чужд език имат твърди убеждения, е темата за ролята на корекцията на грешките на обучаемите. Въпросът за отношението на преподавателя към грешките и към тяхната корекция е един от основните моменти от професионалното развитие на преподавателя по чужд език и е от съществено значение за обучаемите.

Статията има за цел да провокира преподавателите по чужд език да разсъждават за отношението си към проблема за третирането на грешките в чуждоезиковото обучение. В нея се предлага едно по-балансирано разбиране на ролята на корекцията на грешките и се разглеждат някои практически възможности за нейното прилагане. Обект на дискусия са само грешки, допуснати в устната реч на обучаемите.

УЧЕНИЦИ ПО СТАТИСТИКА И ФИЗИКА

Интегрирането на съвременните компютърни технологии в процеса и структурата на обучението променя методиката на лекционно обучение към нов вид методика, насочена към конструиране на електронна среда за обучение. Тази нова стратегия в педагогиката за подпомагане на културата на учебния процес изисква развитие на нови методики за преподаване. Преподавателите създават добре обмислени насочващи въпроси, за да привлекат вниманието на обучаваните към култура на самооценка и самоанализ на степените на усвояване на материала. В тази статия се представят и обсъждат накратко резултатите от вече приложени на практика тестове за самооценка по физика и статистика. В процеса на работа преподавателите създават подходяща микроструктурата за улеснение и подкрепа на обучаваните. При обучението бяха използвани различни форми на обективни тестове като избор на верния отговор от няколко възможни, съответстващ отговор, да/не, кратки есета или попълване на празните места. Експерименталната група от студенти по статистика работи индивидуално online в удобно за студентите време. Преподавателите разполагат с данните от тестовете, които им дават информация, за да сведат до минимум неправилното разбиране при последващото обсъждане в класната стая. В тестовете по физика, приложени с втората експериментална група, се използваха подходящи интернет връзки и Java аплети. Крайните оценки показват, че средните постижения се подобряват с повече от една единица в стандартното отклонение в сравнение с традиционните тестове, в които студентите имат право на един опит. Някои от студентите не могат да се представят добре не защото нямат необходимите знания, а защото са стресирани от самата ситуация на изпитите и това има негативно отражение върху техните резултати. Според качествения анализ, осъществен с експерименталните образци, ангажираността на студентите, личното участие и активното само-насочвано обучение с комплексни технически текстове се подобряват значително, освен това се подобряват климатът и културата на обучението, както и доверието на студентите към образователните системи.

The developing of State Requirements (Standards) for Learning Content is one of the priorities of Bulgarian educational reform. A standard related to foreign citizens enrolled in a preparatory course preceding their university medicine and veterinary science education is developed. This standard is to define knowledge, skills and language competencies that are required in the domain of chemistry from foreign candidates for Bulgarian universities. The Standard and matching chemistry syllabi are made up in conformity with the prescribed Framework Requirements of the Ministry of Education for similar legal documents. The Standard and the new syllabi are valuable tools to improve the quality of education of foreign students and to control their achievements.

The replacement of chloride ions in a medium with equimolar concentrations of sodium methansulfonate has increased the progesterone synthesis in Triturus oocytes stimulated in vitro by homologous pituitary suspension. The same media has also stimulated the oocyte maturation.

MATURATION OF AMPHIBIAN OOCYTES INDUCED IN VITRO BY GONADOTROPIC HORMONES

The inhibitory effect of actinomycin D (5 μg/ml) on maturation of the follicle-enclosed oocytes of Rana temporaria and Xenopus laevis induced in vitro by pituitary suspension and human chorionic gonadotropin, respectively, is not observed at low concentrations of the hormones. These data suggest that nuclei of the follicle cells are not involved in the control of the pituitary-dependent oocyte maturation in amphibians.

DECREASED CONCENTRATIONS OF CHLORIDE IONS ON THE SPONTANEOUS MATURATION OF TRITURUS OOCYTES Inhibition of the chlorine channels with SITS and the decreased concentration of chloride ions affect differently the spontaneous maturation of Triturus oocytes. The process is inhibited by the the blockage of chlorine channels, while it is stimulated by the decreased chloride ions concentrations.

The ability of d/Deaf Bulgarian students of learning English is discussed in this article. The

described group of students consists of hard-of-hearing and d/Deaf students at the special school for the Deaf in Sofia. Special computer strategy was designed and tested in teaching English Deaf students at the special school. It was approbated in 2005/06 academic year with hearing impaired and Deaf students aged between 16 and 23 years.

There are two screens of the computer strategy – one showing the Sign language interpretation of the phrase with simultaneous speaking in Bulgarian and the second screen shows the face in closer perspective so the lip-reading skill could be trained when the Deaf person lip-reads from English speaking person.

AND ITS INTERGRATION IN THE FIELD OF PROFFESSIONAL EDUCATION OF BIOLOGY TEACHERS

Improvement of professional education of biology teachers is an extremely up-to-date

issue with a constant significance. It is irrefutable that it must fit not only contemporary but future needs of educational practice, too. Key element in biology teachers training is the system of skills that ensure effective realization of his/hers professional role.

Three main points are in this problem: deduction of general structure of the skill as psychological and pedagogical category; -deduction of the new system of skills (based on the formal logics) and defining of its structure and functions; building up of methodological technology for forming of system of general science skills as a part of professional education of biology teachers;
