Zoom Meeting

The theme of the month has been Gratitude. I want to

take this moment to express my deepest gratitude for the

DWS Staff for all the work that they have been doing dur-

ing this very challenging year. The teachers have been

working beyond my expectations. They are developing

learning opportunities for remote and in person learning..

They have been re-designing education in a short period

of time in order to provide quality and safe experiences for

our children. It has been challenging and I want to tell the

staff how much I appreciate their resilience in the face of

adversity. Please know when I am talking about our staff

I am also talking about our colleagues on the home front.

The parents, guardians and siblings that are working col-

laboratively with our teachers to enhance and assist with

learning while in the remote setting. We couldn’t do it

without you .

I have been discussing the Parent/Guardian/Teacher con-

ferences that happened last week with the teachers and

they have been noting how important the collaboration

with families is during this time more than ever before.

The parents /guardians that met with their child’s teacher

have been giving really good insight for teachers. Please

keep that communication going as we continue through

this school year.

I am also grateful for our children that are working hard

to continue to grow and develop as learners. They are be-

ing challenged to work collaboratively in the school set-

ting and to work more independently on remote days.

That independent learning is always our long term goal

for our children and they are rising to the occasion. I am

not naive there are many bumps in the road as we move

through this year. However those bumps and how to navi-

gate those bumps provide incredibly important life skills

to learn.

I am grateful to be the principal of DWS.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, please follow the guidelines to

keep your family and our learning community healthy.

Everyone is predicting a large increase in cases after the

holidays. Let’s do our part so that doesn’t happen.

NEW FROM THE NURSE

We hope everyone has a safe, healthy and Happy Thanksgiving. We

are so grateful to work with such an amazing group of students and

families every day. As we move into the holiday season please see below for some important

highlights to keep you, your family and our school community healthy, safe and ready to

learn!

Massachusetts has travel restrictions and recommendations in place to help pro-

tect our community members and keep our schools open.

The entire Massachusetts Travel Mandate can be accessed through this link:

https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-travel-order

Important points to remember regarding the travel mandate:

If you fail to comply with the quarantine or testing you may receive up to a $500 fine.

In order to test out of quarantine after traveling to a high risk state you must get a

negative PCR test result (NOT a rapid test). You must remain in quarantine

until those results are received.

If you do not get tested after traveling to a high risk state you must quarantine for 14

days with a return to activity on the 15th day.

At this time lower risk states are: Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

If you are travelling with children under the age of 10 they do not need to have a PCR

test completed but can return to activity with proof of a parent/guardians negative

PCR test result.

We must receive proof of a negative PCR test result, from the parent/guardian or the

child if over the age of ten, in order for the student to return to school.

As a district we are relying on the school community and community at large to do

right by the mandates so we can keep our schools open.

COVID-19 is still spreading throughout our community and surrounding

towns. We hope that everyone can do their part to help us keep our school build-

ings open and students learning in person. We can all do our part by wearing

masks, practicing good hand hygiene, social distancing and following quarantine/

isolation protocols when needed to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at 781-834-
