Pat Hafford (2014): Learning to Survive: A Mixed Methods Study of the Intersection of Organizational Decline and Learning Organization Practices. This mixed method research study examined whether knowledge practices developed within a learning organization can help an organization in decline respond in a way that leads to its survival. Successfully defended on February 7, 2014.

Committee Member Wes Auberry (2015): Socio-Demography, Social Entrepreneurship, and Changing

Models of Enterprise Success. This quantitative study explored various variables that contribute to the creation of social entrepreneurs and developed a new definition of the concept of "social entrepreneurship". Successfully defended on March 3, 2015.

Gary Boettcher (2014): Performance Errors during Crisis Decision-Making Situations: A Qualitative Examination of Pilot Performance Failures. This qualitative grounded theory study examined why otherwise competent and qualified airline pilots make unintentional and flawed process decisions on the flight deck that could lead to human injury or fatalities and/or damage their aircraft. Successfully defended on March 3, 2014.

Kimberly Castle (2014): The Workplace Bully: A Grounded Theory Study Exploring Motivational Influences of Bullying Behavior at Work. This qualitative grounded theory study explored the motivations of individuals using bullying tactics at work

Harika Suklun (2014): Professional Immigrant Women in Medium and Large Organizations in the USA: A Phenomenological Study Exploring Communication Conflicts that Arise from Language Barriers. Targeted focus was the establishment of a new cash balance pension plan, acquisition integration, and trust enhancement through multiple two-way communications with employees. Divisional Vice President- Human Resources & Communications (1996 – 1998) – As part of the executive team, principal responsibility was to conduct due diligence and lead efforts to integrate the HR and Communications functions following the merger of two coal companies, each partially owned by Ashland Inc., to form Arch Coal, Inc. Duties included the full scope of HR (e.g. training and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance management, succession planning, HRIS, recruiting/retention, etc.) and Employee Communications for this $2 billion company employing more than 5,500 employees in multiple U.S. locations. Role required frequent interaction with the Personnel & Compensation Committee of the company’s Board of Directors.
