Graphic design is both a professional and personal passion, dealing with information and the communication of a message. i love the design process from first thought through to final solution. Over the past 6 years i have gained a wide range of experience and worked on some exciting projects, ranging from bespoke print jobs to nationwide magazines and websites.

away from design i am a passionate cyclist, racing for Bristol south cycling club, explorer of the great outdoors and a green fingered gardener.

For the past six months i’ve taken a career break to discover the world and immerse myself in different cultures. From boating up the amazon, trekking in patagonia, navigating a campervan around new Zealand or joining a sailing trip around remote islands in the philippines, i’ve not only gained a new perspective, but i’ve also learned some valuable life lessons. i am now ready and determined to further my career and build on my creative ability.

The Hill’s Science Plan MenuThe start of something new for your kitten

The purrrrfect balance of taste & nutrition

Whether she’s sitting in your lap, sleeping on your bed or playing in the laundry, your new kitten is surely going to make a lasting impression on your life. Like people, kittens have special needs, and it is important to meet those needs during the early stages of life to provide the best long-term health and happiness.

From proper brain and vision development to building a stronger immune system, your kitten needs the best nutrition and care from the start. Hill’s knows how much your kitten means to your family and is committed to enriching and lengthening your special relationship.

With so many choices, it can be difficult to know what to feed your pet. Many grocery brands contain excess amounts of nutrients that can not only be harmful to growing kittens, but also provide a higher risk of developing problems as they grow older.

Hill’s™ Science Plan™ pet foods offer powerful nutrition – precisely balanced, avoiding both excesses and deficiencies, to meet the unique needs of healthy, growing kittens.

The first year of your kitten’s life is very important, with 3 main factors contributing to her future health: her genes, her environment and her nutrition. Nutrition is the only factor you can control.

Kittens need the right amount of different nutrients to maintain good health. These nutrients must be precisely balanced because too much can be as harmful as too little. Let us take care of her nutrition, so you can enjoy watching her grow into a healthy, happy cat.

Hill’s Science Plan is a complete and precisely balanced food that helps your kitten achieve lifelong health. It is made with high quality, easily digestible ingredients, with no unnecessary fillers and totally natural colourings, flavourings and preservatives.

Hills deliver the most important nutrients your new kitten needs:

Signs of a healthy start

✔ Clinically proven antioxidants, such as vitamins C & E, to build a strong immune system.

✔ The right balance of vitamins and minerals for healthy bone and joint development.

✔ High levels of essential fatty acids for a radiant, glossy coat; and DHA to support brain and learning ability.

✔ High levels of Taurine, an essential amino- acid (building block of protein) for healthy development of kittens’ heart and eyes.

✔ 50 nutrients precisely combined for your kitten’s optimal health.

✔ High quality, easy to digest ingredients to help absorb more nutrients from the food.

Eyes – should be bright, clear and full of life

Nose – should be clean, without discharge or sores

Bladder/Bowel – report any changes in frequency or consistency of your kitten’s urine or stool.

Ears – should be clean and free from discharge, odour and redness. Untreated problems can be dangerous to your pet and may cause hearing loss

Coat – should be shiny and clean

Neutering your cat

Neutering or sterilising is usually carried out when a cat is 4-6 months old.

The benefits of sterilisation include:

Hill’s™ Science Plan™ offers a precise formula that reduces the risk of your sterilised cat developing health problems.

✔ No unwanted pregnancies.

✔ Reduced risk of some mammary cancers.

✔ Increased loyalty to both owner and home.

✔ Longer life expectancy.

✔ Less straying and aggressive behaviour from males.

✔ No yowling and restlessness as females no longer come in to heat.

High levels of L-carnitine, clinically proven to help cats keep fit and active

High levels of L-lysine and controlled calories to help cats avoid weight gain

Controlled mineral levels to support kidney function and maintain a healthy urinary system at every life stage, especially in older cats

Antioxidant vitamins E and C to support immunity and neutralise free radicals associated with ageing

Your pet’s diet is hugely important because neutered cats use 30% less energy, they are 3 times more likely to become overweight. After neutering, hormonal changes cause cats’ metabolism to slow down and their appetite to increase by up to 25%.

One approach is to mix the current (old) and new food:

• Begin by adding a little more new food each day until it represents 25% of the total food intake by the end of the first week.

• Continue increasing the amount of new food each week so your cat receives only new food by the end of 4 weeks.

• If your cat needs more time, be patient and continue the gradual transition longer.

• You can prepare daily portions of dry food (with appropriate amounts of old and new food) ahead of time and store in plastic sandwich bags.

Another approach is to offer your cat the new food and the current food in separate side-by-side containers:

• This allows cats to make choices instead of feeling forced to eat the new food suddenly.

• It’s still important to give your cat at least 4 weeks to begin eating the new food, and then you can gradually provide less of the old food, and then you can gradually provide less of the old food and more of the new food.

When your cat needs a new foodThe single most important thing you can do to help your cat accept a new food is gradual transition over a period of at least 4 weeks.

Most cats don’t like sudden change and they’re more willing to accept new things if change is gradual and they’re allowed to make choices.

And cats can be finicky, so their refusal to accept a new food may simply be because it’s different, rather than a true dislike of the food.

Following these tips will help ease your cat’s transition to a new food. Your cat will feel less stressed and will benefit from the power of nutrition, resulting in better quality of a life for a longer time.

You may be anxious to start feeding a new food right away; however, sudden change often results in failure and frustration. If you are patient and invest a little time initially to help your cat adjust and accept the change, you both will enjoy the benefits of the new food.

For those who aren’t familiar with Groupama Insurance Company Limited (GICL), here is a mini guide.

Getting to know

Groupama

• Set up in France in 1900 as an agricultural insurance provider.

• The name ‘Groupama’ stands for GROUPe des Assurances Mutuelles Agricoles - Group of Mutual Agricultural Insurances.

• Groupama Insurances in the UK was created in 1999 by the merger of Lombard Insurance Company Limited and Gan Insurance Company Limited.

Number 5 non-life insurer in the UKIf we look at our combined market share with Groupama, based on 2011’s financial performance, we move into the top 5 insurers in the UK.

No4 Personal lines...No4 Private Motor… No5 overall...

So how many of us Googled Groupama when we saw the note from Barry about our intention to buy the UK insurance arm of this company? Some of our businesses will be more familiar with it as a panel member while others, like myself, may have come across it as a consumer - I took my first house and contents cover out with them a few years ago.

François-Xavier Boisseau, Chief Executive Officer

François-Xavier Boisseau joined the AXA Group in 1990 from SNPE. In 1993 he

moved to the UK with AXA Insurance UK, where he held a number of senior positions, including Director of Customer

Service. In 1998 François-Xavier moved to AXA Global Risks as Deputy Managing Director, returning to AXA UK as Director of Underwriting and Claims in 2000. He joined Groupama Insurances as Managing Director in 2003 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in November 2007. François-Xavier has specific responsibilities for operations and the strategic direction of the UK Group.
