In addition cash collections for the Provincial Natural Gas Co. of which Mr. Quinsey is the agent, amounting to $25 was taken and a gold watch, worth $35. Quinsey's drug store at Ridgeway Wa-entered last night by thieves who se ­cured a quantity of liquor valued at $."in

The provincial police at Fort Erie were called into the case today, but could find rro clues. In addition cash collections for the Provincial Natural Gas Co. of which Mr. Quinsey is the agent, amounting to $25 was taken and a gold watch, worth $35.

This is the se*-ond time within a year in which the Quinsey store has been entered by thieves.

LIVONIA GRANGE PLANS TO BUILD HALL.

Livon'.a. Jan. lf>.—Officers of Livonia grange for ttve coming year were in­stalled in office last night. The meet­ing was the largest of the present s ea ­son, J. M. Huff of the Honeoye grange having charge oif the ceremonies. •

At a business session held berfore the installation ceremonies tne association voted to purchase the Bolles property on Commercial street. The financial com­mittee reported nearly $»4,lKrO on hc^id and it was felt thai he sum justified ine purchase. The society plans to .erect a grange hall.

Manager Mc-Graw announced yes terday that he had taken Kernan on the advic# of Billy Lauder, rormer Yale baseBall coach. He replaces Ed Cousineau. iha former Fordham backstop, who was re­leased to the Boston Braves last T u e s ­day, Kernan's previous professional e x ­perience consisted of a trial last s u m ­mer with the Reading club of the Inter­national league. He came to the Giattta as a free agent.

"Jimmy" Kernan w a s one of the best all-around college athletes in the east. At Syracuse he played on the varsity football and baseball t eams and was the star of the basketball team. An argument with Chick Meehan, Syracuse football coach; led to Kernan's with­drawal from that university in 1919. H s then entered Yale and became eJigilv • for football there in 1921. (By Special Wire to The Courier.>-Olean, Jan. 19.—During the past year

there were only twenty-s ix licenses granted to peddlers in Olean, according to the reports of City Clerk R. E. Turner O? this number many were strangers In the city, who stayed but a few days selling their wares from house to house.

In the old days Olean was a peddlers' paradise and for many years there were all sorts of peddlers to be seen on the streets, the number of licenses issued running into the hundreds each year. Cripple* were largely represented among those who secured licenses this year.
