Daegu International School (DIS) is a fully licensed, co-educational K-12 boarding (boarding grades 5 and up) and day school.DIS offers an American Education to international students and a select number of Korean citizens. The philosophy of DIS is to offer the best American style education to students in Korea.

DIS is affiliated with Lee Academy in Lee, Maine, USA, which has over 170 years of educational history and traditions.DIS offers the same quality college preparatory education as an American private school.

STUDENTSWith a student population of 320, DIS provides personal attention not found at larger schools. Our small class size and student/faculty ratio offer unparalleled opportunities for interaction.

Students attending DIS are from all parts of Korea and 12 additional countries. DIS has a welcoming residence hall where we can house students from grade 5 and up. Dorm staff work with, take care of, and have fun with students while DIS is their home. DIS provides structured time for work while making sure students have a balance that includes recreation and relaxing.

Members of the school community share a common commitment to the growth and well-being of the individual student. We take pride in our caring and supportive school culture. We provide personal attention and a thoughtfully developed academic program for each DIS student.

ACADEMIC LIFEDIS serves grades K-12. We offer a rigorous program based on the Maine Learning Results and the Advanced Placement (AP) system of the College Board. It is the goal of DIS to prepare all of our students academically, socially, and emotionally to enter post-secondary education in some of the finest Universities and Colleges in Korea, the USA, and worldwide.

Students are highly encouraged to be involved in all aspects of DIS life. We also offer Korean history/social studies and Korean language for students who want to meet Korean education requirements.

DIS is a testing site for the SAT, ACT, and AP exams. Students who take AP classes at DIS will take AP exams at DIS. All grade 10 students take the PSAT exam each year.

OUR FACILITIESThe main building houses 40 classrooms, administrative offices, the library, a dance hall, the cafeteria and a presentation hall. The annex is home to four kindergarten classrooms. We also have an outdoor tennis court, a dormitory that accommodates up to 120 students and a gymnasium.

ATHLETICSSports teams offer opportunities for our student-athletes to have fun, build friendships, work on teams, practice and believe in great sportsmanship, build confidence and self- esteem, promote fitness and also provide an avenue to release stress in a healthy manner. Our team sports offerings include soccer, cross-country running, waterskiing, basket- ball, track and field events, volleyball, and badminton. DIS competes mostly in the Southern Korean Athletic Conference (SKAC) with other International schools in Korea.
