The Daegu Yangnyeonsi Festival is another traditional festival celebrated every year in Korea. It is a special event that is usually held in the Yakjeon-golmok Street every first week of May of each year.
The festival is being held for more than 30 years now. It is always a memorable event for it reminds the locals about the Yangnyeongsi of the Chosun Daynasty.
Guests and visitors are treated to a taste and smell of the Korean culture through the numerous cultural events. In 2001, the festival was tagged as a Cultural and Tourism Festival, making it a very significant event in the country.
The Daegu Yangyeongsi Herb Medicine is no doubt very effective. Herbal medicine experts, oriental medicine students and local herb pharmacists are given the chance to show off the benefits of herb medicine to the festival goers, hoping they will learn from them.
Special activities included in the event are the herb-chopping contest, Mr. Heo Jun contest, Nongak or the traditional instrumental Korean music, exhibit of historical artifacts and tools, medicine brewery demonstration, showcase of medicinal herb teas and more.
Celebrating the greatness of traditional Korean herbal medicine has always been a big thing for the Koreans. Join the Daegu Yangnyeonsi Festival and you’ll understand more why.

Nearby Attractions
- Palgongsan (Pal gong Mt.)
Palgongsan is a mountain 1,193m in height and 20 km away from the center of Daegu city. Aside from the breathtaking scenery, there is a statue of the Buddha, the ‘Gotbawe’, which makes Palgongsan even more special. Rumor has it that it grants people’s wishes, one for each person, only if you wish them with all your heart. That is why lots of mothers go up there to wish for their family’s welfare despite the long travel.
The statue wears a hat that looks like a graduation cap. In school exam season, more people go there than usual. If you don’t like climbing, there is a cable car going up to 820m high. And if you like adventure, rock climbing is also possible.
