Dear Families,

Seesaw is an app we are using to share what your child is learning in school. Seesaw gives each child an online space to capture their learning and add multimedia items to their own electronic learning journal. When a child adds photos, videos, drawing, and voice recordings to their electronic learning journal, caregivers are notified and may view the items. Over time, a child’s electronic learning journal will help tell the story of his/her learning experience at school.

As your child’s teacher, I will be sending instructions on how to subscribe to your child’s electronic learning portfolio. I will need to approve your account in order for you to get access to your child’s electronic learning journal. Approved caregivers will only have access to their own child’s electronic learning journal. The electronic learning journals are not shared publically on the Internet and teachers approve all items before they are added to a journal.

The Seesaw app collects information from both students and caregivers. The type of information includes student and caregiver email addresses, student and caregiver names, student photos, student videos, student drawings, and student voice recordings. The information is stored using Amazon Web Services, which uses servers in the United States for processing and data storage. Amazon Web Services is a cloud based service, and operates in the same manner as various other cloud services. Please note that information which is hosted on servers in the United States may be subject to the laws of the United States and may be accessible by US government, courts, law enforcement authorities, or regulatory agencies. The school board has taken all appropriate technical, organizational and legal steps to secure this information.
