Conducts regularly scheduled, as well as unscheduled, inspections of work locations for the safety of employees, including office areas, laboratories, construction sites, etc. Conducts process evaluations at MSFC, where there is a strong probability the incumbent will encounter hazardous work processes and materials and unsafe environmental conditions involving a substantial number of employees. The 628th Air Base Wing's primary duties are to provide installation support to 53 DoD and Federal agencies, servicing a total force of over 79,000 Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, civilians, dependents and retirees on Charleston AFB and Naval Weapons Station Charleston.  The installation maintains $2.7B worth of physical infrastructure across 23 thousand non-contiguous acres.  Managed the Ground Safety program for over 7,000 military, civilian, and contract employees. Responsible for development, implementation, and management of base safety plans, policies and procedures. Provided safety consultation to commanders, supervisors, and functional managers on technical directives, safety criteria, and operational techniques to ensure safety criteria was being adhered to. Directed 13 base safety personnel and 40 collateral duty safety personnel in the performance of safety inspections, investigations, hazard abatement and safety education training. Performed mishap data trend analysis and recommended measures to correct unfavorable conditions or procedures. Served as the base Operational Risk Management manager advising commanders, supervisors, and workers on Operational Risk Management procedures and techniques for reducing and preventing mishaps.
