Rules, policies, and procedures are a part of our every day lives.

We learn to follow those rules or we suffer the consequences.

But for the most part, we respect what’s put before us because we are responsible, mature citizens of the community.

We want our community to be better because of us.

That’s the reason for these policies and procedures . . . to make CGT the best class in this school and Madison County the best school district in the state!

WHY?

TODAY’S AGENDA

Each day, I will post a “Today’s Agenda”

This is so you will know what we will be working on today.

Page 6: D O N OW Find your name and have a seat If you cannot find your name, please find a folder without a name. Begin filling out the yellow Student Information

DO NOW’S Sometimes RHS, MCHS, and VJHS students will arrive to class a few

minutes before other students.

Everyday when you arrive, there will be a Do Now posted at the front of the classroom.

After you retrieve your notebook each day, proceed to your assigned seat and begin working on your Do Now.

All Do Now’s will be graded and averaged for one daily grade each week.

You will compile each days’ Do Now into one Word document weekly and will print and turn in on Fridays for a grade.

TARDIES

Entry into the classroom after the tardy bell is considered a tardy.o No need to come to class – head directly to office for

admittance slip!o There will be NO admittance into class without proper

admittance slip – unless the office has announced prior to tardy that it is excused and to admit students who are tardy (i.e. late bus, traffic jam on interstate)

o 3 Unexcused Tardies = 1 Absenceo You are responsible for verifying what you missed in your

absence. All Do Now’s and assignments will be posted on Blackboard. If you get confused when catching up, ask me!

Page 8: D O N OW Find your name and have a seat If you cannot find your name, please find a folder without a name. Begin filling out the yellow Student Information

ABSENCES

Any absence will be recorded! Re-admittance to the classroom after an absence requires

an admit slip – even if it’s school-related! For any absences related to CGT or FBLA/TSA– I will notify

home schools as appropriate. It is imperative that you let me know if another teacher still counts you absent because you were on a school sponsored event with CGT or FBLA/TSA.

You are responsible for asking for any work/assignments given during your absence. If you fail to turn in make-up work within two days after your absence, you will receive a zero for your assignment (See Handbook).

EXPECTATIONS OF INDEPENDENCE

Next week, we will discuss basic troubleshooting problems regarding computers and our lab. Why isn’t my mouse working? Why isn’t my monitor working? Why isn’t my keyboard working? Why won’t me keyboard tray push in? How do I load more paper into the printer?

These are common issues with our computer workstations, and you will be responsible for fixing them as they arise.

Each student will receive a username and password. You will use Blackboard throughout the year to check for Do Now’s, assignments, and take tests.

CPAS All 2nd year students must take the CPAS exam in March.

CPAS will cover every unit from 1st year and 2nd year combined. The exam counts as your second semester exam.

We will be doing a lot of reviewing throughout the year, and every day we will be preparing for the test.

It is very important to take the test seriously and do everything in your power to perform exceptionally well on this exam.

I promise, March will be here before we know it.Every day matters!

Magazines will be provided as resources, but you are also encouraged to collect ideas outside of class. Don’t limit yourself! If you see a neat design on a business card or flyer, bring it to class!

You will be graded every 9 weeks on the upkeep and quantity of design ideas in your file.

We will begin the Idea File together next week so you will know exactly what is expected.

NOTEBOOK CHECKS

At the end of each nine weeks, you will have a notebook check. I will check for organization and randomly choose ten papers/projects that should be located behind the correct divider in your notebook. (You can’t be organized if you don’t have everything!)

Remember, you will keep your notebook in our classroom instead of taking it home. The only instance where you should take home your notebook is prior to a test or exam.
