Opening Prayer +Jesus, we know you love children and their families. Thank you for giving us people to love and who love us. Jesus, you are our loyal friend. Help us to always come to you and listen to your words in the Bible. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen + Jesus Welcomes Children - Mark 10:2-16 (Overview for adults) In Sunday's Gospel, Jesus welcomes children & their families & invites them to be his followers. He even asks his adult followers to be more like children because children are especially good at responding with their whole hearts. Human beings are created for making bonds of love & friendship. For older students, He teaches that from the beginning God made man and woman to join together in love. They become inseparably one in marriage. This principle underlies the lifelong, faithful commitment the Church celebrates in the Sacrament of Matrimony. ( From Visions TG1-14) Men & women are created for relationships & lasting love, and children are favored in the kingdom of God. What do you think Jesus likes about children? They are an important part of his family. Why did hewant children with him? Jesus thinks children have the right values for his kingdom. They are usuallyopen to to others and willing to respond to a teacher. What do children like about Jesus? He is loving& kind to them. What does Jesus like about you? Why do the disciples want to keep the children away from Jesus? They thought Jesus was too busywith other more important things.When have you been left out because you were too young? Maybe a game or activity at home orschool. Sometimes this is done for your safety.How does Jesus show that children are important to Him? He calls them to him and blesses them.How do married couples follow Jesus? They remain faithful in their love & care for each other. Theybuild up the human community.What is the best part about being a part of a family? What can be hard about loving people, eventhose we care about most? What is Jesus' law about divorce? How does he change Moses' law? Jesus believes a man & a womanshould be faithful to each other in marriage. Moses' law was written when people still thought of womenas property. A man could send his wife away just as he could sell a cow or a piece of land. Mosesallowed divorce because of the peoples' stubbornness. What is God's purpose in making humans male & female? (Read Genesis 1:27 & 2:24 in your Bible)God made human beings male and female, not only for the purpose of having children & populating theearth but so that they could form bonds of love and friendship. What is Jesus' ideal for men and women? Jesus' ideal for men and women is lasting love.

(Overview) This week's Gospel focuses on the blessings of Marriage especially children. God createdus by love, for love and God desires that we live in community with one another. In ourfamilies/communities, we are to share love, grow in love and strengthen one another with supportand care. We are called to love like God loved us. Jesus show us that everyone is an importantmember of God's family.
