DAY 1 WEDNESDAY, MAY 8 FLIGHT TO LONDON We depart the IPTV parking lot on a Windstar motorcoach for the short drive to the Des Moines International Airport for our overnight flight to

London, England. Those flying from the Cedar Rapids airport will meet other members of the group at the airport to begin the journey.

DAY 2 THURSDAY, MAY 9 LONDON (LD) We arrive in London and transfer to Blenheim Palace for a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Blenheim was the birthplace of

Winston Churchill and is the home of the 12th Duke of Marlborough. As we continue on, we'll stop for lunch in a pub before touring Bletchley

Park with a special code-breaking guide to discover the real story behind the Enigma codebreakers. They are credited with shortening

World War II by successfully deciphering the encryption used by the Nazis to safeguard their messages. We will arrive at our hotel

mid-afternoon and get acquainted with the group at a welcome dinner.

DAY 3 FRIDAY, MAY 10 LONDON (B) After breakfast, we will embark on a full day of touring around London, including a private guided tour of the Imperial War Museum and a

visit to the HMS Belfast. The HMS Belfast was built for the Royal Navy and spent five weeks supporting the D-Day landings. It reportedly

fired one of the first shots on D-Day itself. Today, we will also enjoy a guided visit to the Churchill War Rooms and the adjoining museum.

It was in this underground bunker that Winston Churchill directed the British war effort during World War II. We’ll hear the stories of those

who lived, worked and slept in the Cabinet War Rooms around the clock and see firsthand the preserved Map Room, historic Cabinet

Room, Churchill’s bedroom and other facilities. We will even get to see the tiny Transatlantic Telephone Room disguised as a private toilet

where Churchill used to speak in secret to the President of the United States. Our day will end with a view of the iconic sites of London and a

relaxing evening on our own.

DAY 4 SATURDAY, MAY 11 CHARTWELL - PORTSMOUTH (BD) Following breakfast, we will say goodbye to London and travel to Portsmouth, stopping at Churchill's Chartwell. The estate was the country

retreat of Winston Churchill for over forty years and is where he kept his painting studio. In Portsmouth, we will visit the D-Day Story museum

that was opened in 1984 by the Queen Mother. The museum tells the story of Operation Overlord during the Normandy D-Day landings and

houses the 272-foot Overlord Embroidery. With its 34 panels hand-stitched with scenes from the landings and the Battle of Normandy,

it’s truly a work of art! After checking into our hotel for the evening, dinner will be enjoyed as a group.

DAY 5 SUNDAY, MAY 12 ENGLISH CHANNEL FERRY - ROUEN (BD) Enjoy an early breakfast before we depart for the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry. Once on board, we will relax on the 4-hour journey across the

English Channel. Upon arrival in Dieppe, France, we will transfer to our hotel in Rouen to get ready for a full day of exploration tomorrow.

After time to relax and freshen up, our group will gather together for a delicious dinner.

DAY 6 MONDAY, MAY 13 NORMANDY (B) Today we will spend the full day in Normandy, exploring the villages and beaches where the D-Day landings took place. Our tours today and

tomorrow will include many historical Normandy American sites and give us the unique opportunity to learn more about what the Americans

achieved during the 100 days. The timing of our tour is especially meaningful, as 2019 will be the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. We will have the luxury

of fewer crowds traveling in May, allowing for more relaxed and thoughtful visits, yet we will be at these famous sites as all the preparations are

being made for the ceremonies taking place in a few short weeks. We'll spend time at the Landing Museum at Arromanches, walk along Pointe du

Hoc and visit the Utah Beach Museum. Built on the very beach where the first American troops landed on June 6, 1944,

the Utah Beach Museum recounts the story of D-Day, from the preparation of the landing to the final outcome and success. The remainder of the

day is ours to relax and have dinner on our own.

DAY 7 TUESDAY, MAY 14 NORMANDY - PARIS (B) This morning includes more Normandy touring, starting with the Caen Peace Museum. The museum commemorates World War II and the Battle

of Caen, while also focusing on the fragility of peace during the twentieth century. We'll walk along Omaha Beach and be the struck by the somber

ambiance surrounding the graves of the US cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. There are 9,385 American soldiers buried here, most of whom lost

their lives in the D-Day landings and the ensuing operations. Take a moment to reflect on the momentous impact of that day as we look out across

Omaha Beach from the cemetery's hilltop position. We then bid farewell to Normandy and travel toward Paris. Upon arrival, we will enjoy a

panoramic sightseeing tour of the city. After checking into our deluxe hotel in Paris, the rest of the day is ours to relax and explore the area.

DAY 8 WEDNESDAY, MAY 15 PARIS (B) Outside of Paris lies one of the most magnificent palaces in Europe – the Palace of Versailles. This was the principal residence of the Kings of

France, from Louis XIV in 1682 until the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789. We'll tour the sprawling rooms of the palace and then walk

in the splendid gardens before returning to Paris for another evening at leisure. Tonight, there will be an optional tour offered to Lido de Paris

for a cabaret dinner show (approximately $256 per person, plus the cost of a taxi).

DAY 9 THURSDAY, MAY 16 PARIS (BD) Our final day will take us to the famous Notre Dame Cathedral followed by a stop at the Louvre Museum to view some of the world's most

important works of art, including the Mona Lisa. Of course, we will also stop to view the Eiffel Tower. The afternoon is ours to do some

browsing in the area around the hotel or visit one of the museums that addresses the War Years of Parisians. Tonight's farewell dinner will

be an unforgettable experience. We'll take a step back in time as we spend our evening in an amazing place filled with history, lavish décor

and outstanding food!

DAY 10 FRIDAY, MAY 17 HOME (B) Enjoy breakfast before we transfer to the airport for our flight home.
