OUR CITY ,AYDIN-KUYUCAK -PAMUKÖREN

AYDIN AYDIN IS A PROVINCE OF SOUTHWESTERN TURKEY,

LOCATED IN THE AGEAN REGION.THE PROVINCIAL CAPITAL IS THE CITY OF AYDIN WHICH HAS A POPULATION OF APPROXIMATELY 150.000

The coastal towns of Didim and Kuşadası in particular are tourist resorts. Kuşadası is near to the Büyük Menderes Delta national park, while Didim has a temple of Apollo, beaches, and the ancient ruins of Miletos nearby. The province contains archeological sites, including the ancient Carian cities of Alinda and Alabanda.

Aphrodisias (Greek: Ἀφροδισιάς, Aphrodisiás) was a small city in Caria, on the southwest coast of Asia Minor. Its site is located near the modern village of Geyre, Turkey, about 230 km (140 mi) south-east of İzmir and about 100 km (62 mi) inland from the coast.

AYDIN The city was built near a marble quarry that was

extensively exploited in the Hellenistic and Roman periods, and sculpture in marble from Aphrodisias became famous in the Roman world. Many examples of statuary have been unearthed in Aphrodisias, and some representations of the Aphrodite of Aphrodisias also survive from other parts of the Roman world, as far afield as Pax Julia in Lusitania.[4]

Pamukören,our town ıs just 30 kılometers to Aphrodisias and most probably we will have a trip there durıng your vısıt to Turkey.

Aydın is Turkey's leading producer of figs[and exports dried figs worldwide. Aydın produces olives, chestnuts, cotton, citrus fruits, water melons and other fruits.

IN OUR TOWN ,PAMUKÖREN ,OLIVE,FIGS,ORANGE AND TANGERINE ARE GROWN.

OUR TOWN,PAMUKÖREN

Pamukören is a small town in the District of Kuyucak, Aydın Province, Turkey. As of 2010 it had a population of 3364 people.[1]

THE NAME OF THE TOWN PAMUK MEANS COTTON IN ENGLISH AND IT COMES FROM THE TIMES WHEN THE COTTON WAS PRODUCED A LOT IN THE TOWN

EDUCATION IN TURKEY ACCORDING TO THE NEW REGULATION ,TWELVE YEARS OF EDUCATION

INCLUDING PRIMARY-SECONDARY-HIGH SCHOOL IS OBLIGATORY IN OUR COUNTRY.

The pre-school education is not obligatory and dependent on the will and includes the children of the 3-5 age group.

The primary education covers the education of the children between the ages of 6-11 for four years continuous period.Foreign language education ,that is English starts at 4th grade .

Then,there is another period of four years between the ages of 11-14 to finish elementary school.

The Secondary school Education covers the entire general,Professional and technical instutions having four year education period and is independent on the primary education.

Besides,the deliverance of minimum common culture values,the students are prepared for the higher education where the education should be directed to their interests,skills and capacities.

Anatolian,Science,Fine Arts,vocational,Technical and Islamic Theological schools are different from the General High school ,but are still a part of the secondary education system.

The higher education consists of universities,faculties,research centers. Students are admitted to universities through a two phase examination

held once a year. There are a total number of 58 universities excluding the private

universities with more than one million students.

Our school is a general Secondary founded in 1969 in Pamukören town.It is a small and a lovely school with 12 classrooms, a library ,a conference hall,a computer labaratory,science labaratory and a small canteen.

There are approximately 140 students and twelve teachers , a headmaster and a assisstant director in our school.

Our classrooms are equipped with Interactive White Board but it is not used yet ,they have just been set up.

All classes have foreign language lessons ,that is English ,at least two hours in a week.

Unfortunately ,we don’t have a sports hall but our school has two football teams ,girls –boys and two volleyball teams and the girl team was the third in the city,Aydın.

We also join the National Science and Maths Project competitions.

EDUCATION IN OUR SCHOOL –SCHOOL SUBJECTS School starts at 08:30 for all the students and

finish at 14 :40 for 10-11-12th graders ,finish at 16 :30 for 9th graders .We have one hour of Lunch Break from 12 pm to 13:00 p.m.

Saturdays and Sundays are weekend holidays. We have two long term holidays ,one summer

holiday from June to September and one winter holiday of two weeks in February.During the religious festivals and national festivals ,the schools are closed.

9th graders have classes of 37 hours ,10th-11th-12th graders have 30 hours in a week.

9th graders take obligatory courses,namely Maths,physics,Chemistry,Biology,geometry,Hıstory,Geography,Turkısh literature and Languages,English as foreign language,Physical Education,Religious Education,Music and Art and some elective courses.

10th-11th-12th graders choose their department and take courses of their study field,namely Science,Maths and Social Sciences and they take some elective courses based on their study field again.They have also classes of English,Art and Gym.

Our school has also extra classes of Science and Maths after school for 12th graders who prepare for the university entrance exam.

these teams. This year,we are expecting

more trophies and successes.

PREPARATION While preparing for this school visit ,we held

a Teachers’ meeting to organize the activities.We form students’ comenius Project groups.

Student Project group try to prepare a logotipo with the help of our Art Teacher.

 We prepared this presentation with the help of our English teacher and computer Technology teacher.

 We were very excited and looking forward to visiting our first partner school.

WE WERE CREATIVE AND WE CAME UP WITH DIFFERENT IDEAS AT THE END,WE

HAD THREE DIFFERENT WORK.WE DECIDED ON THE BEST ONE TO

REPRESENT OUR PROJECT.
