Relief Cracking
“Relief Cracking” is normal with tungsten carbide or chromium carbide weld deposits and is essential in relieving stresses. The relief cracks in the overlay ensure a low stress interface between the alloy and the mild steel backing plate. This feature is extremely important in heavy impact environments as the cracking minimises wear and erosion.

Fixing
Welding to the mild steel backing plate is the most common form of fixing. In most cases no special welding precautions are needed.Nelson Studs can be fixed to the mild steel backing plate by Cutting Edges or a licensed fabricator.Slot or Plug welding is popular for large sheets on dozer mouldboards, dump truck ducktails, face shovel floors and walls etc...

“Cutting Edges Wear Plate CC1500 Shroud Protector was installed in place, along with three other similar types of high resistant wear plates in June 2009.
The other three shroud protectors were removed within 4 weeks of replacement. They were completely destroyed. The CC1500 Shroud protector was removed after 9 to 10 weeks.
The Test was carried out at Anglo Dawson Wash plant on a DCM-Tema Multotec 1300mm Diameter Cyclone. The material was hard rock and coal mixture. The Shroud sat around the cyclone end Spigot.”

Process Cutting Edges TLC is hard & tough. Tungsten Carbide Particles are welded to critical wear areas of the parent material which is subject to abrasive wear. TLC will protect the original product and slow the wearing process down dramatically. TLC is applied using an open arc, gas shielded process (MIG) which creates a pool of molten steel, the particles of Tungsten Carbide are introduced at the point of fusion with the parent metal.

severe abrasion and impact encountered
in service.
The wear resistant white iron component conforms to Australian Standard AS2027 and is a CrMoCu-1521 (15%Cr 2%Mo 1%Cu) martensitic white iron alloy.
The XT Blok alloy has excellent hardenability, is produced with a minimum bulk hardness of 700
BHN and contains primary carbides up to 1500 HV.
XT Blok is supplied in a variety of sizes and incorporate a notched backing, making it easy to cut to size and bend to offer protection on a contoured surface.
XT Blok is a composite white iron wear surface vacuum brazed to a weldable mild steel backing plate, buttons, blocks & bars.
