9. Select the ‘Ellipse Tool’ , press the ‘Shift-key’ and draw a large circle inside the rectangle.

• Give the new path a name e.g. Circle.

• Assign this new path to the ‘Kiss’ Finishing Operation.

10. With the ‘Selection Tool’ move the Circle to the left to

encircle the ‘print head’.

11. Select the ‘Line Path Tool’ .

• Start drawing a custom shape around ‘the fingers’. A mouse click will create a new point, clicking and dragging will provide control points to create smooth Bezier curves. Press the ‘Alt-key’ to change the direction of the Bezier.

To adjust the control points, you first have to finalize the path and then use the ‘Path selection Tool’.

• Finalize the path by mouse click on start point (=> close path) or click ‘Esc’ (=> open path).

• Give the new path a name e.g. CustomShape.

• Assign this new path to the ‘Kiss’ Finishing Operation.

12. In order to only use the new created paths, select the ‘Frame (Through Cut)’ path and context click to ‘Remove path’ (Del).

13. ‘Apply’ these changes and drag the image to the sheet.

• The image contour is now clipped to the rectangle path.

• In the Image Inspector you can select all new created paths.

14. Submit Job > Change the job name > “Make and hold” for Print

Files and “Make and send to cutter” for Cut Files. 15. In the job list, context click on the new job and choose ‘Reveal

Cut File for Job’ and open the cut file.

• You can see the new created paths in the correct layers.

• Context click inside the image, choose ‘Inset path’ and execute an inset of 10 mm.

11. Enable the ‘Through Cut (Through Cut)’ path again and you can see that the path for the ‘Kiss’ operation is inset.

12. ‘Apply’ these changes. 13. Drag the image to the sheet.

• The image contour is still clipped to the original Through Cut path

• The path for the ‘Kiss’ operation is inset.

3. Trace to create a contour cut path 1. File>New Layout Job. 2. Select a printer. 3. Set sheet size to e.g. 1000x700 mm. 4. Open the Finishing inspector. 5. Select Cutter “Zünd” and select Finishing Margins

“iCut Corner Marks, between 10”. 6. Import image “Leeuw-4-USM.jpg”. 7. Double click the image to open it in the Image Editor. 8. In the ‘Cut Path Editor’ click the ‘Trace’ button,

and set the ‘Edge Contrast’ to ‘Soft’ (0). Click OK.

• You can see that all shadows are detected as well (see ‘claws and mane of the lion’).

• Due to the many shadows there are 7 ‘new detected cut paths’.

9. With the ‘Path Selection Tool’ select the main cut path

(around the lion) in the preview. 10. Select all other ‘new detected paths’ in the list (with Shift-key).

• The preview shows that these cut paths are detected outside the main cut path.

This ‘Tracing’ was too ‘Soft’.

11. Undo this ‘Trace’ (Ctrl+Z), click the ‘Trace’ button again, and set the ‘Edge Contrast’ to ‘Hard’ (255). Click OK.

• You can see that the shadows are not detected anymore (see ‘claws of the lion’).

• There is no main cut path (around the lion) anymore but 29 ‘new detected cut paths’ (also inside the lion).

This ‘Tracing’ was too ‘Hard’.

12. Undo this ‘Trace’ (Ctrl+Z), click the ‘Trace’ button again, and leave the ‘Edge Contrast’ to the default (30). Click OK.

• You can see that the shadows at the claws of the lion are still detected.

• There are less shadows detected at the mane of the lion which results in only 2 ‘new detected cut paths’.

The default tracing is much better.

13. With the ‘the ‘Path Selection Tool’ select the main cut path (around the lion) in the preview.

14. Select the other ‘new detected path’ in the list and the ‘Frame (Through Cut)’ path and context click to ‘Remove path’ (Del).

the shadow one by one. (Select and click the Del-key).

17. With the ‘Line Path Tool’ close the path by a mouse click on the end point and then on the other end point.

18. Repeat this action for the shadows on the other 3 other claws.

19. ‘Apply’ these changes and ‘Auto Layout’ this image (Ctrl+N). Choose ‘160 copies’, ‘True-Shape Nesting’ on a ‘Single sheet’. During ‘Auto Layout Progress’ choose ‘Use’ when the proposed solution has 16 placed.

20. Submit Job > Change the job name > “Make and hold” for Print Files and “Make and send to cutter” for Cut Files.

21. In the job list, context click on the new job and choose ‘Reveal Cut File for Job’ to open the cut file.
