The company has cultivated long-term relationships with experienced tradesmen that meet their high quality standards and an onsite superintendent assures conformity with their expectations for a finished home of exceptional value. They also have established relationships with local lenders to help facilitate the buying process.

Sea Pac Homes has been a partner of Canyon Creek since 2012. According to Jocelyn Jackson at Sea Pac: “Canyon Creek offers an extensive range of paints, stains and designs that help our homebuyers to express their individual style. They also have additional features and accessories like knife and utensil compartments, trash bins & wine storage. They have loads of customizations options that are easy to incorporate into our standard designs. Plus, I like that they are a Pacific NW company that manufactures locally.”

Top Kitchen Cabinet Trends

Is minimalism and urban chic taking over cabinets? Touring the combined Kitchen/Bath Industry Show and International Builder’s Show in Orlando this year one might think so. Furthermore, data from our exclusive kitchen cabi-net trends survey done at those events seems to confirm it.

The so-called urban chic trend, as it relates to cabinets, is a move toward more clean and sim-ple looks, more European-style construction and finishes. The trend takes its name from today’s millennials moving increasingly into more urban settings, often in smaller apartments, condo-miniums and town homes, where smaller, but design-savvy kitchens are common.

These trending kitchens are the polar opposite of the highly-or-namented, often Mediterra-nean-inspired kitchens that were so popular a few years ago. Those kitchens featured elaborate carv-ing and mouldings, furniture fea-tures like bun feet, and often com-plex glaze finishes. Out of some three-dozen companies showing off more than 125 kitchen displays

According to the recent article by William Sampson in Woodworking Network, kitchen cabinets are moving away from the highly-ornamental designs from a few years ago, to a more minimalistic, urban chic design.

at this year’s shows, less than a handful of displays included these once popular ostentatious kitchens.

Instead, booth after booth at the show emphasized frameless kitchens with slab or Shaker doors, often with low-key or even no visible knobs or pulls, reflecting minimalist design trends. Paint and lami-nates have replaced wood as the dom-inant materials, with a pallet of greys, whites, and blues in force. Rather than taking over a whole kitchen, wood is often relegated to the status of an accent, frequently with a dark stain to contrast bright white, high-gloss acrylic cabinet doors in the same kitchen.

Canyon Creek offers three gloss level top coats: standard, matte and lo-luster. Each sheen level provides a different look and shine to your cabinets. Not sure which gloss level is for you? Consider these kitchen design factors before you choose:

Knowing the amount of natural light that streams into the kitchen is critical when deciding on a sheen level. In rooms that need a little more light, our standard top coat that has our highest light reflectivity (around 35 percent) will help make the space look brighter.

Think about the look and theme of your kitchen. Lo-luster or matte are both good choices when going with a vintage theme. While lo-luster is nearly flat, matte has a subtle sheen.

Keep in mind the paint on the walls. You’ll want to choose a top coat that complements the surrounding area.

Seasonal Foods To Cook With This Spring

Asparagus: The best time for asparagus is right now! Grilled or roasted in the oven, asparagus is a delicious addition to meals this time of year. Try this Pistachio Crusted Asparagus with Feta as a light and fresh side dish.

Artichokes: Whole artichokes are easier to cook than you think. All you need to do is remove the stem and outer leaves; trim the leaf tips, then boil or steam the whole artichoke. Enjoy each leaf by dipping into melted butter, mayonnaise or another sauce of your choice and draw the base of the leaf through your teeth to remove the tender portion.

Mango: There are so many things you can do with mangos! From desserts to salads to salsas, they are a very versatile fruit. Mangos may be a little challenging to cut, but well worth it. Especially in this Quinoa Salad with Mango.

Rhubarb: If you are a fan of rhubarb, you know it is only in season for a short time. If you’ve never tried it, we recommend trying this Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie. The tartness of rhubarb mixes well with sweet fruits like strawberries. Buy more rhubarb than you need—it freezes really well.

The weather has officially started to warm up. Don’t get too excited and start throwing your favorite summer foods and vegetables on the grill just yet. Instead, look to see what foods are in season this time of year.

Places For Cabinets Besides The Kitchen

Top left: This remodeled bedroom utilized our framed cabinets to create a professional space to meet with clients. Plenty of storage was built into the former closet.

Lower left: Studios tend to lack storage space. The semi-custom, full access media center from our Millennia line in this picture provides the additional storage space needed to keep organized.

Top right: If you love entertaining, a beverage station in the family room, man cave or basement will keep all your barware easily accessible.

Lower right: Cabinets in this attic bonus room allow plenty of storage to hide toys and clothes. With a small kitchenette in the room, this space is perfect for when friends and family come to visit.
