Associate Dean for Doctoral Education The University of Texas at Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work, Austin, TX Responsible for all facets of the doctoral program administration including admissions, advising, and advancement of PhD students from entry through the job placement process. Interview prospective doctoral candidates and work with faculty to recruit top candidates nationally and internationally. As Chair of Doctoral Committee, work with doctoral faculty on curriculum, teaching, and dissertation supervision. Facilitate assessment and evaluation of the doctoral program, including the external evaluations required by the Texas Higher Coordinating Board and the Graduate School. Member of the School of Social Work’s leadership team within academic affairs. Currently serve as President of the Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education (GADE).

1992-2013 Concentration Coordinator, Masters Clinical Social Work Program The University of Texas at Austin, School of Social Work, Austin, TX Oversaw the curriculum of the Clinical Concentration for this top ten nationally-ranked MSSW program. Reviewed all clinical courses taught to monitor adherence to course, curriculum, school objectives and Council on Social Work Education accreditation standards. Assisted with policies, procedures, implementation, and accreditation of the MSSW curriculum.

1988-1989 Director of Field Education Texas Christian University (TCU), Social Work Program, Fort Worth, TX Administered field education program. Served as faculty liaison between TCU undergraduate social work program and field education agencies. Involved in all aspects of multidisciplinary department that included social work, sociology, anthropology, and criminal justice.

1986-1988 Director of Counseling and Research

The University of Texas at Arlington, Graduate School of Social Work, Cassata Learning Center, JTPA-Project, Arlington, TX Co-PI for evaluation research grant. Administered clinical and research component of an alternative education program for high school dropouts. Planned, oversaw, and managed the research project and counseling program implemented in the school. Designed and implemented school-based social work program. Responsible for setting up research design, data collection, and program evaluation, as well as writing and publishing relevant information based on research data. Successfully wrote $237,000 federal grant and prepared budget with other administrative staff.

Ten to 15 percent of client caseload were low income and on Medicaid. Performed assessments, evaluations, and mental status exams on adults and adolescents for subsequent hospitalization.
