Objective
Through an oral discussion on the question “What do living things need to survive?”, the student will demonstrate how much he/she knows about the topic “Habitats.”
Through the presentation and discussion of a list of vocabulary words related to the topic the student will define and use them fluently.
After the teacher reads the stories: “A Rainforest Habitat” and “Explore the Coral Reef,” the student will categorize different elements from a habitat with accuracy.
Using a picture of an animal, the student will write simple sentences with accuracy.
At the end of the lesson, the student will share his/her three tab book with his classmates fluently.

Development Activities
Conversation with student to introduce the topic. Student talks to a partner about what he/she needs to live. Teacher starts writing the student’s words at the board to prepare a list of words related to “Habitat” (Later, these words can be added to the Word Wall)
The teacher will present the vocabulary relating it with the topic. Ex: (shelter, home, etc).Both, teacher and students will categorize the words. (These words will be helpful when the student starts writing his sentences for the Three Tab Book) Practice
The teacher will start reading. After that, the student will categorize how a rainforest or coral reef provides shelter, food, oxygen and water for animals using words already studied.(This activity will help the student for his/her project. Make the student identify similarities and differences between the two stories or between animals)
The student will start working on his/her three-tab book where he/she illustrates the animal’s habitat and writes a simple sentence.

Closing Activities
Summarize the class. Teacher can ask the student to bring pictures for next day if they want to.
