Anarchist Group A group for anyone interested in discussing, debating and learning more about
leftist politics. We hope to have weekly meetings to hear talks and have discussions
afterwards. We hope to network with other groups in Scotland and to participate in
meaningful political action.

The Dumfries Environmental Sustainability Society (DESS)
DESS was founded to make the University campus and community more
sustainable and raise awareness by giving out freebies like seasonal and organic
soup, organising workshops and film screenings for education and hosting weekly
meetings which include guest speakers.

Gardening Club
Our Dumfries Campus is lucky enough to have its own Teaching and Phenology
Garden and new students (and staff) volunteers are always welcome to get
involved in planting and general garden activities. Come and have some green
fingered fun and gain some botanical know how along the way.

Girls Football
Interested in kicking for Crichton? Wanting to have fun or improve your football
skills? Well come along to our girls football training with exclusive access to the
local Dumfries ladies team, coaches and facilities. Whether you fancy a kick-
about or are up for playing for the campus in the local league, there is
something for every level playing for the Crichton Girls Footie Team

International Society
The Crichton Campus International Society, are students from Scotland,
Europe and beyond. We want to share our cultures and celebrate diversity.
The International Society is a great way to meet new people and make friends
from across the world. Meeting once a week, organise events and fun trips in
the area, or just sit together over stories, tea, and biscuits.

Crichton LGBT+
A social and welfare society for students at Crichton Campus who identify as
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, or another related identity. Creating a
welcoming space for people who identify as LGBT+ as well as people
questioning their identity Crichton LGBT + run social events fortnightly which
include Meet and Greets, a Film Club, Murder Mystery nights, and a pub crawl.

Rowing
Meeting for training several times a week and taking part in competitions and
regattas on a regular basis throughout the year, the Boat Club is one of the
most popular activities for Dumfries Campus students. Enthusiastic individuals
are always welcomed from beginners to more advanced, everyone is free to
join. We train at Nithsdale Amateur Rowing Club boat house situated on Nith
Avenue (Greensands, Dumfries).

Sailing Club
During the season the sailing club train at weekends at Lochmaben outside
Dumfries. Whether youre an experienced sailor or a complete beginner,

Writing Group
The writing group is for anyone who loves to write. Meeting every two weeks
locally in Dumfries to read out work, participate in writing games/prompts, and
discuss literature. Were always keen to meet new writers so do feel free to come
along!

Riding Club
The Crichton Campus Riding Club has recently re-launched and is teamed up
with a local Riding School in Thornhill to provide access to horse riding at an
affordable rate in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment for students
to try something new. Runs discounted student prices across the wide range of
activities the group aims to cater to everyone who enjoys horse riding or wants to
give it a try .

Were looking for enthusiastic students to get involved in the start ups for
several clubs that have had a little hiatus on campus.
CUCSA are currently working with students to bring you a new Netball, both
Boys and Girls Football and an improved Riding Club for the campus. If you
would like to get involved in the running of any of these clubs please email

If you cant find what youre looking for among our clubs and societies on
campus then why not look local? Dumfries and Galloway has a wide range of
sports and community groups who are always looking for members. Heres a few
idea to get you started
Dumfries Hockey Club
Running both Womens and Mens team playing in local leagues new members
are welcome to come along and join in. Don't worry, if you have never lifted a
stick before, we will take you through all the basics and rules.
Everyone is welcome to join us at one of our training sessions!

Dumfries Harriers
Interested in cross country running? The local Harriers train regularly and provide a
discount membership for under 21's. Those interested are welcome to come along
to a club Night and experience Dumfries Harriers first hand without obligation.

Dumfries Cycling Club
Primarily a road bike club doing weekly rides of 40-50miles. So if you have had
enough of going out on your own and are looking for company on Saturdays, then
come along. Some current experience of riding a racing bike would be useful but
not essential as all abilities are catered for.

Dumfries Musical Theatre Company
The BMTC are a group of around 70 members; singers, dancers, actors, back
stage and support who put on two productions a year usually in April and
November. We are always looking for new talent. If you have the talent we can
use it!

Dumfries Camera Club
The Dumfries Camera Club gives a warm welcome to all levels of photographer,
from beginner to international award winner. Competitions are run throughout the
year and speakers, both national and local, visit the club to lecture and give
presentations on various aspects of photography. So if you are looking for
inspiration, want to know which buttons to press on your camera or just want to join
a friendly progressive photographic club, why not come along and give us a go?

so why not see if there is something for you
There is a wide range of churches of various denominations, mosques and other
religious centres throughout Dumfries and you can find a full list on the Council
website under the Faith and Religion section.
If youve found a club or society outwith the student association and think its a
good place to meet people or is suitable for other students then please let us know
and we can pass it on to the rest of the student body
