SUMMER 2020 Garden Goodness by Lisa G. I love the sense of accomplishment when I finish a project…especially one that’s going to reap some pretty tasty rewards at the end of the season. My little garden here is ready to go with tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini and summer squash. Yum!! I remember as a kid my family, along with all the cousins, would plant a HUGE garden at my uncles house. Corn, potatoes, tomatoes, peas, all kinds of squash, cucumbers, beans. It was hard work in the hot summer sun – but so worth it when we could finally eat all the fresh vegies. Even better was being able to share all the extra we had with friends, family, the church rectory and convent. We’d load up our red wagon and roll it up and down our neighborhood streets passing out vegies to anyone who wanted. How about you? Do you have a small garden patch in your yard; or perhaps you plant a big family plot at a relatives house. Maybe it’s a planter or two on your porch with a few favorites. All are great opportunities to get your hands a little dirty and plant some goodness. Lets see your Garden Goodness photos. Maybe even share a recipe using your favorite vegie. My personal favorite – Chocolate, Chocolate Zucchini Bread. Stay tuned for some Garden Goodness recipies in coming issues of the newsletter!

JUNE 2020

Hello all, I hope everyone's family and friends are doing well during this troubling time. Luckily, we are starting to see the downward curve of this pandemic. You may or may not be aware, I serve as a member of the National Guard for New York and was called to duty to assist with the response to this pandemic. Luckily, I have been assigned to help at a medical supply warehouse well away from New York City. And the work day is a regular 8 hour day, so I have plenty of off time. We are fortunate that our hotel gym remained open so I'm not too bored. And I've gotten to read some good books out here and I found a few hiking trails to explore. I hope you guys are all finding fun activities to keep boredom away. I could definitely use a haircut though!

I enjoy reading all of your stories and delighted that you are all remaining in high spirits. I am excited for our meetings to resume and hear some of your stories in person. I will keep you all in my prayers, Chris

Through their research, study, and writing, they have advanced the Church’s knowledge of our faith. To be declared a Doctor of the Church does not imply that all their writings are free from error but rather that the whole body of their work,

taken together serves to advance the cause of Christ and his Church. Who are they? Answers in the next newsletter, so stay tuned. By Fr. Larry Rice --------------------------------------------------------- Brainstorm Trivia Answers: 1. Dom Perignon 2. Lake Superior

Who is Saint Corona

Were you — out of quarantine boredom perhaps — to Google "patron saint of pandemics," you might be surprised by the results.

"It's incredible but it's seemingly true – there is a Saint Corona and she is one of the patrons of pandemics," according to the website of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lansing, Michigan.

Even more incredible, the diocese claims, the remains of the second-century saint are in northern Italy, the epicenter of the recent outbreak of the coronavirus in Europe.

The diocese cites Gloria.tv, a website for Catholic news and memes, as its source for the claims about St. Corona.

St. Corona's purported patronage against pandemic and plague also has been pointed out on social media and on popular Catholic website Aleteia.

"She's been viral online," the Rev. Rich Pagano said in March 16 episode of The Catholic Show podcast noting that people were praying to the saint in northern Italy.

Not so fast, tweeted Candida Moss, the Edward Cadbury Professor of Theology at the University of Birmingham, U.K.

"You have people praying to the patron saint of treasure hunters, which seems to be against CDC guidelines," Moss told Religion News Service.

There is a St. Corona, and her remains are in Anzu, a town in northern Italy, she said.

But her story is complicated, and there is reason to believe she may have been invented, Moss said.

I wanna set the world on fire until it's burning bright for you. It's everything that I desire, can I be the one you use? I, I am small but You, you are big enough. I, I am weak but You, you are strong enough. To take my dreams, come and give them wings. Lord with you there's nothing I cannot do. Nothing I cannot do. I wanna feed the hungry children. And reach across the Father’s farthest land. And tell the broken there is healing, And mercy in the Father's hands. I, I am small but You, you are big enough. I, I am weak but You, you are strong enough. To take my dreams Come and give them wings. Lord with you There's nothing I cannot do. Nothing I cannot do.

Take my dreams, come and give them wings. And Lord with you There's nothing I cannot do. My hands, my feet, my everything. My life, my love, Lord use me. I wanna set the world on fire. Wanna set the world on fire. Take my dreams, come and give them wings. Lord with you there's nothing I cannot do. Take my dreams, come and give them wings. Cause Lord with you there's nothing I can't do. Nothing I can't do.
