What is Web 2.0?

Web 2.0 refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services; such as social networking sites, wikis, weblogs, social bookmarking, podcasts, collaborative planning software, RSS feeds, etc.

Web 2.0 Definitions

Blog: A blog is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.

Wiki:

A collaborative website which can be directly edited by anyone with access to it. One of the best known wikis is Wikipedia. A defining characteristic of the wiki technology is the ease with which pages can be created and updated colaboratively through a simple mark up language using a web browser.

RSS:

"Really Simple Syndication" is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as websites, news headlines, blogs, podcasts, etc.

Podcast:

A digital media file, or a series of such files, that is distributed over the internet using syndication feeds for playback on computers or mp3 players.

Social Bookmarking

On a social bookmarking system or network, users store lists of Internet resources that they find useful.

Collaborative Planning Software:

 Helps people plan projects and activities together on the peer base. Everyone can equally contribute, assign tasks and track the progress . Ex. Wrike

What is Enterprise 2.0?

Used to cover the introduction and implementation of social software within the enterprise, and the social and organizational changes related to its use

Information workers will control their own user experience and hence create for themselves the most intuitive and efficient work environment
